Dusk was falling, and the sky was a brilliant orange. Midna stared out into the sunset while Link made sure everything was ready for the following day.

"Link?" the imp's voice was so soft that Link barely caught it.

"Yes Midna?"

"Does the sunset ever make you sad?"

"Not particularly." he answered, confused at Midna's sudden emotion. Usually she kept a stony expression, pretending everything was okay.

"It makes me sad. It makes me think of my family, and how much I'm letting them down. All of them." she turned her face towards his, and he was surprised to see tears staining her pale cheeks. He opened his arms to her, and the creature floated into his warm arms. He slowly sunk into the dew soaked grass, hugging the girl to his chest as she cried. "I just feel so alone." He held her like that for a long time, until the sun sunk so far it disappeared from view, and the moon rose to take its place. Once she was finally asleep, he lay her gently on the grass.

"I just want you to know," he whispers, wiping the residual tears from her cheeks, "That you were never alone."
