Flannery was completely scared. Never before had she been so frightened in her life.

She'd never done anything so important before. What if she screwed up? What if she wasn't good enough?

She'd been chosen to lead the Lavaridge Pokemon Gym, as per her grandfather's wishes. She, instead of the dozen other candidates, had been chosen for this overwhelming task.

Her hands were sweaty and her throat was tight, and it had nothing to do with her Gym being an effective sauna. She'd spent too much time around such areas to be affected by that.

Flannery was nervous.

Nervous that she wouldn't live up to her grandfather's name. He had trusted her with this job, and she didn't want to let him down.

Nervous that she'd bring shame to her town somehow.

Nervous that she'd let down her Pokemon, her trusted partners.

Nervous of failure.

She clenched her hands into fists and shifted from foot to foot, trying to distract herself from her insecurities. They wouldn't do her any good in her time as a Gym Leader.

As she tried to convince herself, she came to a conclusion.

Whether she failed or succeeded, it didn't matter unless she gave it her best. That was all that they had asked of her. Her grandfather had known that she probably wouldn't be the best, but she could definitely try!

A smile made its way onto her face as she felt her confidence come back.

Until somebody came through the mist created by the sauna-like Gym.

...Damn, she'd forgotten what she was going to say...

And this one's about Flannery, Gym Leader #4 in the Hoenn region.
