~ Midnight Rains ~
Since I was a little boy I always had a thing for autumn. I never knew why…. I never searched for the right reasons, for me it was simple – I just simply like it. Maybe because of the colors or the sudden rains.
Midnight rains.
Like this one right now. I love to watch rain from my window, just sitting and staring at the small drops. The smell of wet asphalt and the green grass. And then there's the sound of rain hitting metal rim. Sometimes it's music to my ears.
But not tonight.
Soft words coming from her lips. Rhythmical pounding of rain against the leaves. Splashing of water each time our feet step into a plash. Whistles of a wind breaking through the branches.
Tonight, that's the melody I'm listening.
I pull her closer, underneath the big green umbrella I'm holding and she naturally completely unconsciously leans into my arms. We walk slowly. Simply enjoying the time we have. It doesn't matter its past midnight or that it's raining outside nor the fact our chicken it's getting colder in the plastic bag she's caring. We're two lovers completely consumed by this moment, totally unaware of the things around us. Her hand keeps mine warm inside my coat-pocket. Our fingers are entwined. I like the way her small hand fit into my big one, allowing me to secretly claim her as my own.
I love how street lights are playing with the color of her hair. It reminds me of leaves in autumn. Dark red dissolving into dazzling strawberry that melts into beautiful sunset-orange ending with the color of the honey. I play with its ends, loving the way her hair glide through my fingers.
So soft, like silk. Like soft green grass beneath you on the sunny autumn day. Like the soft look in the morning when you open your eyes and the first thing you see are her lovely eyes watching you. Like her soft cherry lips that tenderly kiss you every night before you go to sleep.
Sound of her voice wakes me from my trance.
"You're too quiet…", she gently says.
"What's so weird about that?" I turn to look at her. "Hey! When did you open that?" I refer to now almost eaten chocolate candy bar in her hand. I try to reach for it but she steps away, wetting her left side.
"Hey! You'll get me wet!", she squeals. "And I needed sugar…" I pull her hand and she's again glued to my left side. We stop and I turn her to look at me. She tries to lick off remain trace of chocolate above her lips. She looks so cute doing that.
I leaned in and kiss away the chocolate. She smiles into my action and wraps her arms around her neck. I struggle with the umbrella.
"I knew you're gonna do that…"
I don't say anything. I just continue my journey lower where her lips are greedily waiting for mine. She lets out the girlish giggle and surrenders herself to the magic of midnight rains.
