Dan stumbled forward from one of his crutches catching on a crack in the pavement. Phil grabbed him and held his arms until he was sure he wouldn't fall. Only a week and half ago, Dan had managed to fall down the stairs and break his ankle. He was still a bit unsteady on his crutches.

"I knew we should have stayed home," Phil mumbled. After being stuck inside for a week and a half, Dan had finally convinced Phil to take him to the shops.

"I'm fine. I only tripped," Dan said.

"Sooner of later you're going to break your neck."

"I will not." Almost ironically, Dan tripped again and fell into a group of people nearby. After apologizing profusely, Phil dragged Dan to sit on a bench up against a small computer repair shop.

"Did I not just tell you to be careful?" Phil chastised.

"Actually you didn't. You said I'd break my neck but you never told me to be careful," Dan responded. Phil huffed.

"Please be careful Dan," he said sincerely. Dan was going to give a sarcastic remark when he saw Phil's eyes. They had started to tear up a little with worry. Dan's expression softened.

"Aren't I always?" Phil let out a strangled noise, half laugh, half sob.

"No. That's how you broke your ankle in the first place! Just promise me you'll be careful," Phil said, tears nearly spilling over.

"Phil-"

"Promise me Dan."

"I promise okay? I promise I'll be careful," Dan said.

"Good," Phil grumbled, pulling Dan in to hug him.

"Why are you so worried anyway?" Dan asked into Phil's shoulder.

"Because I know you did it on purpose. I know it wasn't an accident, your fall." Dan stiffened but didn't pull away.

"If I wanted to kill myself, I would have succeeded," Dan whispered into Phil's ear. Dan felt tears on his neck.

"Don't talk like that," Phil snapped.

"You were the one that brought it up," Dan said defensively. He pulled away. Phil looked hurt, tears dripping down his face. Dan sighed, feeling guilty.

"Sorry. Let's just drop it. It's a nice day and I have a feeling you won't let me out of the house for a while now," Dan said. Phil smiled and, wiping away his tears, agreed. The two continued to slowly walk down the street, stopping in various shops. Phil never took his eyes off Dan though. He couldn't get it out of his head that Dan never denied falling on purpose.
