Author's note: It finally happened - I submitted a fanfiction on this site. It's my first time writing a story in English, so I'm sorry for any grammar and spelling mistakes you'll probably find. But please enjoy it. I'm pretty tired, hehe.
It's beautiful. His red.
Like a burning fire you see at night. It immediately catches your eye. And you can't turn your back on it anymore.
That's also what Nene Amano thinks of its owner. The red's owner. He's like a burning fire you see at night. He immediately catches your eye. And you can't turn your back on him anymore. On the outside she is the smart and mature girl trying to give her very best to save the digital world. What about the inside? She prefers not to talk about it. Not because she's carrying a dark secret with her, but one that she's afraid of telling someone, not even Akari, who was now one of her closest friends.
But also her rival.
Why? Because his childhood friend would definitely have more chances to be by his side than the girl he met in the digital world and saved just because he could not turn his back on her. It's actually really frustrating since he can't ignore anyone, so it's not like Nene Amano is his special snowflake. But it's not like she wouldn't love to be it. Enjoying more of his strong red burning in his good heart.
Sadly lavender looks bad with red. No, it looks just awful.
A deep sigh left her mouth as she thinks about it again. Sitting at the fire with her digimon and waiting for the others to come back from looking for food, she looked up and watched the dark sky with its beautiful stars decorating it. Taiki Kudou can't turn his back on anyone who needs him, but what if someone wants more than just his help? His attention and love. Since the day the goggle boy saved her when they were in the Dust Zone, she started to see more than just a strong general in him. Now she's addicted to it. To get his attention whenever she needs help. Knowing there is one special person who cares a lot about you just feels great in your heart. And she would do anything to keep this feeling forever, to always get his attention.
Her feelings grew over time for the red's owner. No matter how bad the mix of lavender and red looks like.
"Look, they're back!" said Sparrowmon and pointed at the red and blue generals, followed by their digimon. Nene turns around, but only paid attention to the one and only red general.
Everyone sat down at the fire and started to share their food, and it tasted great as always. The goggle boy sat down next to the girl with the unusual hairstyle and gave her some of the food he brought with him.
"Thank you, Taiki-kun." Nene looked at him, and he gave her a bright smile. Her heart almost exploded.
"You don't need to thank me, Nene! You're thanking me enough by showing me you're okay," he answered and took a bite, but still smiled like the happiest kid in the world. Nene blushed and giggled a little like she always used to do it.
"Does that mean you won't rest until I'm feeling okay?" she asked Taiki and looked at him, still with a smile on her lips. For a few second it seemed like he would think of an answer, but shortly after that he nodded with a grin, looking handsome as always in Nene's eyes.
"Well, I'm really cold, and my jacket does not really help." - "Do you want me to warm you up, then?" he sniggered. She didn't say anything, instead just nodded slightly. Taiki moved closer to her and gently put one arm around her. Enjoying his affection she smiled a little and rested her head on his shoulder.
And then there was no reason to feel cold anymore.
"It feels like you're warmer than the fire," she whispered and shut her eyes. "It must be the strong red in your heart."
"You think so?"
"Yes. It's beautiful."
"Huh?" he wondered.
"Your red, Taiki-kun," she answered calm, "And I can't get enough of it."
