I just felt so, I dunno, safe?
I felt like my heart was literally bursting with happiness, however cliché that phrase might be. Ever since my voice had decided that the world was sufficiently saved, we had moved in with Mom and Ella. And today, the first day I had woken up with a permanent home and a Mom, I was just so joyful. I couldn't resist I had to fly.
'Mom! Going flying!'
Stuck in a world no longer turning,
Always the girl waiting for something.
Too many days, walking round sleeping,
Open my eyes, I'm tired of dreaming.
I jumped onto the rail of my balcony and dropped off, in a nosedive towards the ground until I swerved upwards and sailed towards the clouds. Little did I hear the second pair of wings open behind me. The aforementioned joy bubbled up my throat and spilled out in the form of, unfortunately, a song.
Strongly, I began to sing, and where the words came from, I will never know.
'I wanna fly with reckless emotion,
Find out if love is the size of an ocean
Even if I crash down and burn out
At least I'm gonna know what it's like,
To feel Alive.'
Arms wrapped around me from behind and crushed my wings against a strong chest. Only one person would brave my wings to do that. Fang. And you know what that meant? Fang had heard my song.
I turned around to face him and he smiled gently, with an unreadable emotion in his eyes. 'Don't stop' he whispered in my ear, sending the strange chills down my spine again. I buried my face in the crook of his neck, and continued.
'Sun on my face, lights of the city,
Maybe in love, or just learning to be
On my two feet, I can only imagine,
I'll say the words, and believe it'll happen.'
Fang smiled at me again, pretty much managing to outshine the sun with no effort at all. With this encouragement, I continued, as sweetly as I could.
'They think they know me,
But how can they know me,
I'm getting to know myself,
I'm finally ready to be somebody,
With a story to tell.'
But it was what happened next that surprised me most of all. Fang began to answer me.
