Hi all this is my first ever time writing a fanfic! I always love to read them so I though hey why not give it a go. This is about the love triangle in Harry Potter between Snape James and Lily. I think just in case this should be an 17+ for I'm not 100% sure where the story will go and cannot guarantee it won't get nsfw. This story is set in the 7th year so even though some avents are meant to be earlier its just easier this way. i was also inspired by this fanfiction

It was a hot summers day and all the students were out on the grounds enjoying the heat and freedom of the weekend. However apart from the main body of students sat down by the lake were two people. One was a tall wirey boy his dark greasy hair made no better by the sun bouncing of it giving him the appearance of having just vacated the lake to which he was sat astride. The other a petite attractive redhead, whilst her companions feautures shrivelled in the sun hers shone green eyes sparkling as they looked towards the boy.
"Sev?"
"Hmm"
Snape hadn't been looking, his eyes were averted to where four boys sat pratting about under a beach tree. Lily recognising she was not going to get a response turned her head to see what he was looking at and a frown crossed her face.
"For Merlins sake Sev I swear your obsessed with Potter and his mates, they're not even doing anything".
"No .. no but they're planning to" Snape grimaced turning back to Lily "don't you ever wonder where they keep running off to? Don't you want to know?" He looked almost imploringly at Lily but she shot him down.
"No I don't ! Like you I think they are twats but unlike you I don't care what they're getting up to, what's the point in even talking about them ?" She didn't let Snape finish before she continued
"Anyway Sev I heard what happened, Mary told me you followed them the other night".
It was clear Snape hadn't been expecting this his eyes moved shifitily and he picked a spot of grass to stare at as he replied.
" I just wanted to know. I know they're up to no good but nobody catches them out on it , it's not fair" he added pouting at Lily, he almost immediately realised how childish this sounded and went back to looking at his patch of grass.
" I know that Sev but really going to the Whomping willow was hardly a good idea was it ?".
"He told me !" Snape burst looking Lily square in the eye this time "it was Black,Sirius Black, he told me that if I went there I would find something that might interest me".
"Well that was your own fault for listening then" Lily snapped " you could have been killed by whatever was at the end of that passageway". She chewed on her lip for a while as if trying to suppress what she wanted to say, she like Snape had looked over at the small group of boys and in particular James. Snape saw her eyeline and taking her pause said " I know what your thinking".
"Well it's true!" Lilly exclaimed snapping her head back to face Snape "James potter saved your life".
"Only because he feared for his own skin should anything happen to me because of their stupid prank" Snape bit back looking nettled.
"Why do you let them bait you then? You shouldn't have gone and you know it! This obsession with potter and his mates has got to stop it's already nearly cost you your life" Lily emplored staring at Snape intently. He looked away blushing at her gaze before she carried on whispering now "..But.. Sev do you know what that creature was down there? Did you see it ...?". Before Snape could reply a shadow fell over the grass "wouldn't we all love to know what that creature was Evans" came an amused voice and they both jumped looking up.
"Potter " Snape growled springing to his feet "what do you want!".
"Isn't that saviour potter to you" Sirius replied ensuing a laugh from the boys. Lily noticed that Remus had remained by the beach tree but was glancing up from his book frequently as though monitoring their conversation. Snape turned red at Sirus's comment and was reaching inside his robe pocket. Lily stood up too, "Sev don't!" She exclaimed "they're not worth it". She turned to James then, saying hotly "why can't you just leave him alone?". James had clearly not been expecting such annimostity from the girl and for a second looked almost sheepish, but then he brushed back his jet black hair and returned his trademark maurader grin. "Well actually Evans I came to speak to you".
She raised a curious eyebrow before scowling again "oh really about what may I ask?".
It was James turn to look bashful again as he lowered his voice slightly moving closer to Lily "I was sorta hoping I could talk to you on your own".
" And that's why you brought your whole posey with you is it ?" She questioned gesturing to Peter and Sirius, James seemed not to have a ready answer for this he thought for a moment before quipping "Well I thought they could keep poor old Snivilley company" he grinned at the girl as though hoping she might return the expression. She did not.
"Well there's no need" lily replied cooly "whatever you have to say I'm sure can be said with everyone here".
This clearly had not been where James planned for this to go but he quickly fixed back on his seeker confidence as he puffed out his chest "Well Evans there is a Hogsmead trip this weekend .. I was thinking that you would enjoy the honour of accompanying me". Lily could see both Black and Pettigrew had grimaced they knew their poor friends use of language had already set him up for failure. Before Lily could even fathom her reply however Snape chimed in "she's not going to go anywhere with you Potter!" he barked.
"Oh really?" replied James sneering, he was clearly pleased that Snape was angered by this "maybe we should let Lily field this one as I wasn't asking you Snivilley". Both the boys then turned to Lily who was stood looking confused. Finally, looking at James, she said firmly
"I don't understand you, you pick on me you pick on my friends" she gestured to Snape who was now in a silent rage steadily turning redder and redder. "Yet you still have the nerve to keep asking me out , do you really want to embarrass me that much? I'm not an idiot Potter I know you don't actually like me and that for whatever reason you get a kick out of doing this, but it's the same thing every time so why not just stop!". It was clear Lily had been practising this monologue for some time now and she was panting slightly with suppressed anger as she waited for James to reply. He didn't though, at Lily's words he crumpled and looking completely deafeted turned away and began to trudge back up to where lupin was sat, with Peter trailing behind him. Lily watched him go completely confused and it was a moment before she realised that Sirius was still stood there. "Look" he said in a sad tone that took Lily aback. "Why would James ask a girl out that he's not interested in only to get rejected each time, he really does lo.. ahem care for you Lily and he has done for ages. I know he can be a prat sometimes and comes across as a self boastful idiot but he's scared he just wants to impress you. Hopefully one day you'll see the James we know" he walked away following James and Peter back up to the tree under which Lupin sat. Lily was unmoving as she watched Sirius trudge back up to the other boys.
"Lily ?" Said Snape tentivily "Lily ? Are you okay?"
"Hmm " she seemed to Snap out of her stooper but Snape could see she was gazing at where James has re-sat under the tree. Looking panicky Snape practically yelled "no lily ! I won't I won't let you" she jumped staring at him annoyed "let me do what exactly?"
"You know what I mean" Snape mumbled, " I knew it I knew he liked you" he whispered almost more to himself than Lily " but I won't let you you'll just get hurt". Lily annoyed at Snapes tone fought back " I think I can look after myself just fine without you thanks" she didn't wait for Snape to reply before saying " look it's getting dark we should probably go back to the castle".
