"No!" She screamed as she was dragged into the cell. "Please! Don't hide me away Sasuke!" She stared, eyes full of desperation, at her captor.
He turned away, and walked out of the room. "I'm sorry it had to be this way Sakura." The guards dragging her into the cell, and she heard the click of the lock as the door closed, locking all the light out. She spent an unknown amount of time screaming, scratching at the door, hoping it would give way. But the restraints on her wrist that blocked her chakra prevented her from breaking through. Eventually, she dropped to the ground, unconscious from her struggles.
When she awoke, the first thing she noticed was the thin beam of light visible from between her half-closed eyes. It was coming from a… window? Located about eye level from the ground, it was oval shaped, and through the other side she could see a richly decorated room, with a girl around her age perched on a large bed. The girl walked up to the glass, and smiled. Sakura placed her hand on the window, and mouthed a silent cry for help at the girl. But the girl just smiled, and walked away from the glass. Sakura wailed and banged her fist against it, begging for her to free her, but without her strength, and weak as she was from hunger, she was unable to break through. She collapsed sobbing to the ground, and once again slipped into darkness.
Over time, she became used to life in the cell. By her estimates she had been in hee for around five years. In the corner was a small hole, too small to crawl through, which served as her bathroom. Every time she awoke, she would find a small platter of food, barely enough to live on, and a cup of water. She had tried staying awake to escape while her food was delivered, as well as pretending to be asleep, but her food would never come. Eventually she would succumb to sleep, and wake up to see her food in front of her, mocking her.
Her only solace was the girl, who would on occasion come up to the glass and smile at her. She never answered her calls, but she was a welcome relief from the monotony of her prison. She began to think of her as her only friend, for no one had tried to rescue her, leaving her bitter. Naruto, Lady Tsunade, Ino, Sai, Kakashi… no one had cared enough to attempt to free her. She knew they knew of her for Sasuke had said he had sent a message to them proclaiming her capture. Yet no one came. She would sit in her cell, and sing, if she could, or move as much as she was able to in the small, cramped space. The girl's smile was the only hint of life in the perpetual darkness that was her cell. At least she had that.
Kagura hummed as she walked into her room. Sasuke had given her another gift today, a beautiful silver necklace inlaid with gold. She walked over to her mirror, a fancy edged oval shaped glass, and held up the necklace to put it on. Sometimes she thought she could hear a voice from behind it, but she would always shake it off. That was impossible. The only thing further to that side of the palace was the prisons, and they were empty. She doubted someone was hiding behind her walls. She smiled, and touched the necklace in the mirror. She would have to thank her fiance for the gift.
And on the other side of the wall, Sakura smiled back.
One girl smiled into the mirror at her only solace. The other smiled at a mirror. She smiled only for herself, oblivious to the other girl.
AAH! Another depressing plot bunny attacked. It was hiding in the corners of my brain for weeks, accumulating more and more fluff. It looked a little off too. Might have been rabid.
Anyway, thanks for reading this, and please review. They mean a lot.
