Disclaimer: If Harry Potter belonged to me, James and Lily would still be alive. Anything you recognize belongs to the almighty J.K. Rowling.

James' POV:

"Prongs! Get up! It's Christmas!"I felt someone shake me. I slowly opened my eyes to find Sirius standing over my bed, grinning. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, then I realized what he was yelling about.

"It's CHRISTMAS!" I shouted, waking up Remus. He scowled at me. I stuck my tongue out at him, but even Remus couldn't stay mad for long. It was Christmas, after all!

Sirius and I ran down the stairs to the common room, where a giant stack of presents lay underneath the Christmas tree. Remus followed closely behind us. Lily and her friends Alice Prewett and Marlene McKinnon were already there, unwrapping their own gifts.

Sirius immediately ran to the tree and proceeded to rip open his own gifts. Remus sank into an armchair and began to read a book. I casually reached under the tree and pulled out the present I got for Lily. I held it out to her.

"This is from me," I told her. Lily rolled her eyes, but took the gift anyway. She slowly unwrapped the present, holding it at arm's length.

"It won't bite," I teased. Lily glared at me, but I could see her cheeks redden. Once the paper was off, she carefully opened the box underneath. Inside was a necklace made of emeralds resting on top of a lily flower. She gently lifted the necklace out of the box, and Alice helped her to put it on.

"James…" Lily was at a loss for words, which was a rare occurrence for her. All I noticed was that she had called me James, not Potter, like she usually does. I reached inside the box and pulled out the flower. I tried to put it in Lily's hair, but she slapped my hand away. Yep, the old Lily was back.

Lily's POV:

James had really started to grow up. I hadn't really noticed until now, but when he gave me that necklace, I saw he had matured (a little). I watched James open his presents for a while. Black got him a broomstick servicing kit, and Remus got him got him his own copy of Quidditch Through the Ages, his favorite book (and the only book he reads). Once James got to my present-yes, I got James Potter a present which is something I never thought I would do- I looked away as he started to rip off the paper.

All of a sudden, I heard James give a cry of delight. I looked over at him as he flipped through a stack of papers. They were coupons I had made, each could be used for something different, things that I knew he would like.

"Can I use one now?" James asked excitedly. Remus looked over from his book and smiled. I had told him what I was getting for James, and he didn't believe me at first…

Flashback

"Remus? Can I talk to you for a minute?" I said, walking over to the armchair in which Remus was sitting, writing his Potions essay.

"Sure. What's on your mind?"

"I-I'm getting Potter a Christmas present and I wanted your opinion on it..." I looked at the ground. I never thought I would see the day where I got James Potter a Christmas present, but then again, this year had been weird.

"Okay…" Remus set down his quill and parchment. "What are you getting him?" he asked interestedly.

"I'm making him a book of coupons, for various things!" I sighed and buried my face in my hands. Was I really doing this?

"No way! What are the coupons for?" Remus was being playful now, and I could tell he didn't believe me. I took my head out of my hands.

"Well...one of them's for a date to Hogsmeade…"

I put my face in my hands once again, ashamed of what I had become. I was supposed to hate Potter, but this year, he had sort of...changed. He didn't ask me out anymore, which was a good thing-right? My thoughts were interrupted as Remus asked me "Wait..are you being serious?"

I nodded. "Oh, er, sorry. I didn't think you'd ever get James a present." Remus said, his face reddening.

"Neither did I," I told him quietly, my voice muffled. I realized Remus probably couldn't hear me, so I took my head out of my hands

"Neither did I," I said, a little louder this time.

"Oh, well, in that case, I think he'll love it," Remus smiled at me. "He's missed you this year, Lily, ever since we told him that if he kept asking you out, you'd probably explode,"

So that was why Potter hadn't been insisting constantly that I go with him to Hogsmeade recently. Maybe I would make him those coupons…

End Flashback

I glanced back at James, who was looking at me with pleading eyes, begging me to say yes.

"Okay," I replied. "But which one?"

James POV:

When Lily agreed, I couldn't believe my ears. I looked over at Sirius, and saw his jaw drop.

"For real?" I asked incredulously. Lily nodded.

"Okay, then I want to use… the date coupon!" I said triumphantly. "You'll finally have to go out with me, Evans!"

Lily sighed. "I'll have to see when I'm free, Potter." she told me reluctantly. I pumped my fist in the air. I almost forgot it was Christmas, I was so excited.

I watched Lily open her last present, the one from her parents. They had gotten her a gold bracelet and a ruby ring-the colors of Gryffindor (well, Gryffindor is really scarlet and gold, but close enough).

As Remus opened his presents, my owl, Lily, flew in a giant package. She landed on the couch, and I ran to untie the package from her leg. It was wrapped, and the tag read:

To James and Sirius

Love, Mum and Dad

I smiled and called Sirius over. He read the tag and grinned. We both ripped the package open and found it filled with sweets, Sirius started stuffing his mouth with Chocolate Frogs right away. I grabbed some for Remus, too; he loves chocolate more than anything.

Within twenty minutes, the box was almost empty and Sirius was whining about how much his stomach hurt. I grabbed a few Cauldron Cakes-Lily's favorites-from the box and walked over to where she and her friends were sitting. Lily saw me coming and immediately got quiet.

"What do you want?" she asked me suspiciously.

"I just wanted to give you these," I said. I handed her the Cauldron Cakes.

"Thanks," she said, smiling. I smiled back at her and went back to the couch that Sirius was lying on. He stopped complaining when he saw me.

"I think Evans might be starting to fancy you, Prongs," he told me.

"Are you serious?" I asked him, hardly daring to believe it.

"Yeah, I am! You would think that after six years, you would know my name!" Sirius shook his head disbelievingly.

"Oh, shut it," I told him, but inside, I was jumping for joy. Lily Evans might fancy me, and that was the best present of all.

A/N: This has been in my head for a while, and I finally got around to writing it! I also need to give credit to my best friend for helping me write this, we worked on it together. Please review, it would mean a lot to me :)
