His Escape.
Summary;Sometimes it's a lot easier wishing for things to happen.
Instead of them really coming true.
She wanted him; there was no doubt about it. The lingering looks, the hugs that seemed to last for eternity, the flirtatious smiles. But he took no notice. No. His eyes were on the fugly math girl. Talk about an insult.
It was torture, the first few months. Zeke trailed after her, and she pretended to be interested, merely to keep her thoughts from Them. Urgh. Them.
Troy and Gabriella. Oh how sweet. Too sweet. It was dissolving Sharpay's tooth enamel.
But as much as she despised them, their lingering looks, theirlong hugs, their flirtatious smiles, she put on a brave face. Hid her anger and humiliation, and went on as normal. Well, as normal as expected.
What was even more degrading was that her brother, her own flesh and blood, had fallen for The Man Stealer, Gabriella. Or TMS as Sharpay liked to call her. Privately, though.
And so she was alone. TMS had captured everybody's heart. God. How naïve can you get? She played them. Played them off against her, and it made Sharpay's blood boil. And they call her the bitch. Open your eyes, losers.
She still had a soft spot for him. But it's not hard to figure out why; he isTroy Bolton after all. Damn his attractiveness. Damn his charm. Damn Troy Bolton. It was hard. It hurt. She could survive, barely. She was stronger than that.
But when the thrill wore off Them, she noticed him. His lingering looks, his long hugs, his flirtatious smiles. Surely, Troy Bolton wasn't bored of his perfect little Gabi already? Looks like it, skid.
Of course, for the sake of the public, he acted like everything was flawless. Psh. He couldn't fool her. After all. She was the one giving him those looks not too long ago. And now, to have them returned? Finally, we're getting somewhere.
He would call her at night. Let her know she was on his mind. And she appreciated it. But sometimes, beauty sleep is much more valuable. But this was the start.
He caught her after rehearsals one day. Gabriella hadn't auditioned, complaining that she simply couldn't do both the show and some stupid decathlon, and so Sharpay and Ryan got the leads. She was finishing up with some scene, when everyone else had left. Sharpay liked it best when she was in the theater alone. She felt…at home. Plus she didn't have any other dorks interrupting her 'me-time'. But when Troy walked in, she didn't mind. That much. He smiled, told her she looked sexy. She grinned, and of course agreed with him. And he kissed her, so gentle, yet so passionate. He winked, and left her. He'd be back soon.
And so it began.
Stolen kisses in the library during lunch. Heated moments in the dressing rooms after rehearsals. He kept her on her toes. For once, Sharpay wasn't in charge. No. In fact, she was immersed. Caught up, and confused. She'd wanted him for so long now, it was almost strange to have him. She loved it, obviously, but sometimes it was hard not just to grab Troy in the middle of class and kiss him, there and then. But she couldn't. She was The Other Woman.
His mistress. His escape. And it hurt. To know she was needed, but yet not quite Gabriella-quality. Not quite good enough to be acknowledged in public, yet too good to let go.
She'd never be his. She knew that.
Sometimes it's a lot easier wishing for things to happen.
Instead of them really coming true.
Fin.
