"Have a good night ma'am, make sure you get to the condo safely." Here the old lady that I helped out to the car, smiled lightly while her husband, nodded in my direction before slipping a three-dollar tip into my hands as I headed back into my store. Oh right, this is the part where I do the introduction thing, correct? The name's Rob ******* II, 22 years of age, rookie Brazilian Jujitsu practitioner, and a healthy young man with a four pack around 6 feet even, clad in a green shirt with the Publix logo, along with black over coat, and glasses covering my hazel eyes. As I was getting ready to pack it in and call it a night, I heard one of my managers call me over to see that it was Ryan, he stood a bit taller than me at 6'3" while a bit on the plump side, he asked me into the computer room as the night manager Cody was there as well, so I asked him if I was in any trouble at the time.
"No, Rob nothing's wrong...it's just, did you order anything like a book or something in the previous days while at home or something?" Ryan asked with a raised eyebrow while both my eyebrows shot up in surprise at that question while thinking through the past previous days at my house before fall started.
"Nope, I've never ordered a thing. Haven't even expressed any interest in ordering yet until I get a credit card, or I get enough cash to buy something, you know that right boss?" Ryan and I chuckled as I started hoisting myself onto the wall and looking at Ryan again. "Also to clarify again, I never ordered anything yet so what's up?"
Ryan sighed before handing me a package that was addressed to me somehow; strange thing was there was no return address on it at all which perked my interest and concern. I raised an eyebrow as I unsealed the package with a pair of scissors that the customer service manager, Cody, decided to give me to unseal it and I held it up for all the rooms occupants at the current moment decided to see what it was.
An old book that looked like it was about to fall apart was apparently still in good conditions as I took a look at the first part of the book was written in Ancient Greek..."Γνωρίζωότιείστεοόνομα, τουοποίουημοίρακαιθρύλοςυπάρχουνμέσασεαυτότοβιβλίο ..."* Apparently the book was amazing still intact as I took a better look at the cover, it was covered in a six sided sigil that had crosses intertwining and crisscrossing each with a royal circle piece in the center of it along with some incantation in Latin at the bottom..."Tantum regii scribere dignum in hac fabula." At the center of the piece was a pink haired woman whom resembled Lightning from the Final Fantasy series to me. Did she just wink at me and pose seductively as her...! Oh god! That's sexy, I shouted in my head as the Lightning image decided to tease me as my mind was now focusing on the sentence on the cover of the book.
I stared at the passage as Ryan noticed the sentence and was about to speak as my phone dinged, noticed it was from my sister as she was currently waiting on me in the parking, while I shoved the book into my sling bag before getting into the car to head home. I decided to read some of it while I was getting ready for bed, a mysterious package with no return address along with an old tattered book…can anyone say ADVENTURE. However, I decided to look up the words that were in Ancient Greek above on Bing translator...Apparently it meant something about someone's name being written inside the book, so naturally like any good rule-breaker I shrugged, grabbed a pen-stylized with a wolf as always-wrote my name in the book and placed it to the side not noticing a small glow materialize from it as I sat around watching Youtubers online react to Catch the ice dude. I then yawned after 2 hours it being around 9:30 and opened the book again to see what other passages or words there were and noticed that there were around eight to nine more.
One sentence in particular gained my interest as I was reading it listening to my sister try and sneak out, not expecting my parents to grab her and take her car away for a week while I rolled my eyes the words that grabbed my attention showed up again "Φωτιάάρχονταςτουχάους, ανταποκρίνονταιστοκάλεσμάκαιθράκαμουόλασεστάχτες! Ας καμία σταθεί ως καθαρισμού σας τη γη με τη φωτιά ως σκοτεινή η νύχτα! Προσέξτε την κλήση μου, να προοδεύουν και να κάψει όλα! ΕΚΡΗΞΗ!"**
As I was about to get ready for sleep the book shone a light blue with a small polar sound thing that the flash bangs produce while I was looking at it in confusion before voicing in a loud voice "WHAT THE FUC-!?" as my family busted into my room and yelled out my name in concern as all four of us were swallowed by the light and the book closed with a soft pang as it landed harmlessly on my bed.
XXX A few hours later *what it appears to me*
I woke up with hazy eyes, feeling major pain-note the emphasis on the words major pain-on the section that was between my abdomen and my right ribs that stung like hell. I heard a couple voices here and there particularly a male and female voice arguing about whether or not I would live so I just closed my eyes and let sleep take me again.
Again, all I could hear was the sound of feet, yelling, laughter and cries while I still had to breathe hard because I hurt really bad…sleeping again…this time I was able to hear some footsteps approach towards me and nearly take the necklace that Sarah had given me as I grabbed the hand in a vice grip and said in a rough tone with hints of anger "Don't ever touch this…" I didn't know who it was but apparently they backed off enough to fall over as again sleep claimed me. Here I could tell that someone was watching me only to feel the rag on my head be replaced as I asked slowly and groggily 'who' only to have the voice respond back softly "Rest easily, the poison still hasn't left you…" Yet for a fourth time sleep claimed me victoriously as the room turned dark again only for me to mutter out my name to the person.
XXX Group POV XXX
The sound of feet running attracted an old woman who looked up to the rafters where she just had her gray tired eyes with a raised eyebrow to a site of green eager eyes who talked to the old woman "Lady Sarina, it seems that our guest is awakening soon…he even told me his name before he succumbed to unconsciousness…Rob *******, does he exist in the record?" Here the two gray eyes shot wide open as the old lady just shrugged and mumbled 'tomorrow, today has been too damn hectic'. The old lady shuffled off to bed as did the owner of the green eyes as she sat down on an open bed.
After an uneventful 8 hours rest, the green eyes snapped open as she donned her village traditional robes of the coming of age journey, she grasped them lightly…before she shook her head allowing her blonde red tipped hair to flow freely as she moved towards the door after informing the old lady she would be scouring the archive for the family who the young man mentioned however…she saw fear and horror in his eyes as her feet walked on their own as she adjusted the hem of her skirt yet thought about why the young man would have such fear in his eyes. Her white skirt and shirt flowed easily through the soft wind that was sweeping its way up the docks as she went into the Archive and met with the front doorkeeper who smiled lightly. The Archive building housed information of all the nobles, commoners and clans that were meant to be active in protecting Limsa Lominsa as well as who died to keep it safe as they had monsters, the Ala'jai and constant other threats to the city.
The door keeper had a simple green shirt on along with brown pants and sandals as he spoke up with a slight Southern accent as he shook his head at the girl "Goddess above lass, don't ya have anything better to do with ye time? I mean no offense, but please try to find something else to occupy ye time instead of researching that grimoire of yours." The girl shook her head allowing her blonde red hair to shake, before locking on the man's orange eyes with her own green eyes with hands poised on her hips.
"No offense taken, Mister Gerald, however I do have a request…has the been any mention of a family called Conklin being in Limsa during any years?" Here the orange eyes and hair of the gate keeper, looked up with a raised eyebrow as four other keepers of the Archive all looked at her in confusion.
"Not that I can remember Ashelia, off the top of my head, although it's weird for you to request information about a family…has something happened?"
"I don't know," responded the young woman Ashelia as she spoke up again "however, Mi'yac and Uskar brought back someone who suffered Abyss Wraith poisoning." The eyes of nearly all the attendants looked up in shock and horror as she noticed their expressions "Don't worry, he's fine, his body is really strong, he's been in a week long heal after the potion was administered…yet I need to find out if there is a family here or nearby so we can inform them of what happened." The archivers breathed easily as Gerald took Ashelia in the keeper room and helped her find some information…
However, after many days, I woke up groggily and noticed that the room was hazy, so I took off my glasses and put them to the side and saw that my vision had improved. I then heard a gasp to the left as a plate nearly crashed from my peripheral vision, so I looked and saw a…person dressed as a Miqo'te from the Final Fantasy series that climbed up a ladder to get to me immediately turned around and had a tail that was red with a white/blue tip as she yelled down to the others as I heard the shuffling of feet below, I took in the Miqo'te that knelt by my side.
She was around 5'4", light tanned skin and had on a bright red sash that held up a blue shirt which was covered by a light leather armor that protected her chest area while her skirt was knee length and black in color, oh she also had bodacious boobs on her... at least middle d-cups to high D's at least. On her head, however was what attracted me she had one of those Chinese fishermen hats on and was carrying an archer's bow and arrows, her boots from what I could see had the strongest light leather material in years sewn into them.
Her ears from what I could tell were like cats except they were diagonal and green in color for some reason, and her eyes were the brightest ruby red that I had ever seen, yet the shouts of others and one particular voice that screamed "QUIET YA YAPS, YA BLOODING DOGS, OR I'LL BE THE ONE QUIETIN' 'EM FOR YA!" drew my attention away while I just sweat dropped while the female Miqo'te just rubbed her head abashedly and chuckled weakly as others began to appear from the ladder including a variety of the characters from the Final Fantasy series.
A Midlander Hyur or what the final fantasy information website said was a human race that had clothes similar to nomadic people. Her hair was as bright yellow as the sun, with skin as white as snow, had bluish mixed with a brown color eyes, wore a white shirt that covered her assets well considering she was a cc-cup borderline d-cup with a light metal sash that held up her shirt and protected her from any attacks seeing as she prided herself on using knuckles to punch people into oblivion along with an axe on her back.
The next person up was a female elf who held herself in high regards considering she had an air of arrogance surrounding her as she walked haughtily towards me. She had a standard appearance of an elf with the green styled clothes you would see on an elf in cartoons with the green clothes*** fitting her comfortably at her height around 5'3" a little bit shorter than the Miqo'te but with a bigger bust size, along with green colored eyes, she was also a mage from what I could tell with the staff on her back.
The last person up was a man with a broadsword and lance on his back while he radiated calmness, his clothes consisted of a burgundy shirt covered by a white metal overcoat which was also covered by a blue coat, his pants were camouflaged cylon gray with a bit of brown intermixed with them while having a bandanna on his forehead hiding some red hair while his ears were pierced, yet some scars littered his face with seriousness while taking stock of me as his hand was hovering near his broadsword, finally his eyes radiated power by showing off the color purple for some reason.
I just tried to sit up straighter while the Miqo'te and the Hyur helped me up as I drank water the Miqo'te spoke up.
"Arrre you okay?" she said in a light alto voice while dragging out the r in the word, whereas the Hyur looked at me in confusion, though the others had their arms near their weapons should I say anything derogatory.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just feels like my head got slammed by a blacksmith's hammer while pounding something that just came out of the forge." I say in a sarcastic manner that brings a glint to the Hyur's eyes as she lightly giggles: the elf smiles along with the Miqo'te while the man just grumbled before asking in a rough baritone voice.
"That does sound painful, but tell me how you appeared in the strange light, kid." He said with a serious voice which made me raise an eyebrow and grimace as pain shot through my body as I lay back on the bed I was in with help of the cat and human lady before speaking.
"How exactly did I appear here though? Was it through some kind of blue light? Oh, also the name's Rob, try not to forget it." Everyone blinked before the man spoke up again.
"Yeah, it was a blue light, kid, here's what happened..."
Flashback in first chapter
"Alright, so we now know not to trust Mi'yac with the food package from now on." The Roegadyn said to the others who nodded while the Miqo'te pouted as her ears dropped downwards in a depressed motion before stating.
"But, Uskar, the fish was a trout, a rainbow trout at that! It's one of my favorites!" The Miqo'te whined as the male of the party just sighed before trudging on a windy dirt road that they were escorting a young couple down while the female Hyur and Elvan mage whispered to each other.
"It is amazing that Mithra can eat a fish clean and raw like that, even though I've seen it a couple of times it still scares me sometimes, Ms. Jao'un." The elf nodded as she replied back to the Hyur.
"Indeed it is still a strange startling discovery that almost all of the Miqo'te can become savage beasts like that when fish is involved, fair Sares, and I've asked you before just call me Jane." The elf called Jao'un or Jane said to Sares who blushed in embarrassment as the group continued down until Uskar called a stop to everyone and pulled out his lance as Malboro's began to appear in two waves with the total being three green Malboro's and four red Malboro's putting the group on edge...
X Pause
"Wait, what those things you mentioned again?" I asked as I was now sitting up without pain and started eating a little bit of the plate that was forgotten...it was like a gift from heaven above, it was so good and now everyone just groaned while the man I thought was Uskar just chuckled and explained.
"Those things are Malboro's; they resemble some kind of plant that has tentacles on the bottom of them that makes them move. Their breath also causes poison, stone, and immobilize of any person with a fifty percent chance of that happening." I paled immediately and Uskar waved away my concern with a hand before returning to the story about how the group found me.
Back to the flashback
Uskar wiped his brow away from the sweat as the last of the Malboro's fell to the ground and Jao'un was healing them before they group heard the shriek of Sares, and turned around to see that a strange blue glow was hovering something over the form of an abyss wraith**** which made the group pale. The Abyss Wraith was considered an S-rank monster in terms of following a pack, but alone it was dubbed a B-class monster that was still hard to kill unless a group of 7 people, all of who had to be skill skilled in different aspects of hunting in a group that was on an extermination mission. The abyss wraith had a hood covering its face although it's pure gray/white wings flapped in the breeze, as the fingers/claws were dripping with blue ooze which made Mi'yac pale as she recognized what it was. The wraith's body was seen for all as the humans or beast kin were devoured and they cried out in pain and horror making the group pale even more as they realized that this was a feeding Abyss Wraith. *****
Abyss wraiths were exceptionally hard to kill and they either needed backup or pure luck to kill it, and as luck would have it an old man with a broadsword with a red flame design stopped by and voiced up causing Uskar to shriek like a little girl for a moment "Perhaps I can help you out..." The old man received praise from the group as the light faded and there was a Hyur boy around 22 years of age sleeping like a rock and then it happened. The abyss wraith let out a savage war cry waking the man who cried out "WHAT THE FU-!" however his words were drowned out by the war cry. The demon slashed out with its claws onto the man who cried out in pain as the venom from the wraith's claws affected him, Mi'yac cried out in fear as she raced towards the boy and brought him to a safe distance as Jao'un started to sedate him with an antidote toxin while the others fought the wraith with Mi'yac looking at the boy per her tail swishing curiously as she looked at his right arm.
On the arm was a light blue glow and she rolled up the fabric however before she could inspect it, a cry rang out. She saw that the others were in need in healing. "Jao'un! Give the others aid, I can handle things here!" Jao'un looked reluctant but nonetheless joined the fray as Mi'yac then took actually stock of the Hyur.
The boy was around 22 years of age, looked to be around five feet seven inches tall from the way he was spread out on the grass, had light brown hair and a clean complexion on his face, his shirt was green and had an image of a wolf on it standing on an icy cliff for some reason, he had on white camouflage shorts and the symbol was now on his arm. It was a strange symbol that she could make out perhaps when she looked up at it in books...
Mi'yac was shaken from her thoughts as she heard the others screaming and instantly knocked an arrow from her quiver into her hand and let it fly right into the wraith's shoulder making it cry out in pain and surprise not having seen the arrow or who shot it as the old man jumped up with a battle cry and cleaved one of the wings of the abyss wraith who shrieked before flying off albeit awkwardly making everyone stare at it while they gathered around Mi'yac and looked at the boy before voicing concerns about what to do.
"I say we leave him here...OW!" Uskar cried out as Jao'un hit him in the ribs with her staff.
"We should take him to an inn to heal, at least." Jao'un spoke up with reasoning in her tone and no room for an argument which everyone agreed to except Uskar who just grunted while Jao'un hit him with a withering glare that made him step back a little.
Everyone agreed and the group learned of the old man's name was Auron a traveling swordsman searching for someone.
End flashback
"So, that's what happened, eh? I guess I owe y'all one." I muttered in an appreciate tone with Uskar grumbling angrily 'Damn right, ya do' before getting hit in the head with Jao'un's staff.
"Yes, you do, however before you even think about getting out of the bed, rest up, the antidote's pain should kick in right about...now." The moment the elf Jao'un said that as I was instantly racked by pain.
My reaction was priceless in the eyes of the group as my eyes grew wide, my face turned pale, and I bit my lips to keep from screaming out as I laid back down on the bed and decided to turn in for another couple hours.
After I woke up-again,which was really getting on my nerves -I noticed that an old woman who looked to be in her fifties started putting some things near my side as I rose up I noticed that it was nighttime and she looked at me before putting a blanket on Mi'yac and I just asked why she was here instead of with her group to the old lady who seemed impressed with me waking up.
"You're actually conscious from the antidote to an abyss wraith's poison in just under a week?! That's mighty impressive; tell me, boya, what's your name?" The old woman asked in an annoying tone that had the arrogance someone would expect from that of an old harpy.
"Thank you, ma'am, my name is Rob *******, I thank you for allowing me rest here, and I would like to ask you some questions about where our lodging is and what else appeared along with me, is that alright, ma'am?" The old woman had a slight surprised face on herself before laughing lightly and settling down on a stool that I didn't take notice of before.
"You're currently in the Broken Seadog, an inn at Limsa Lominsa for weary travelers like the group that brought you here, and the only thing that appeared with you was a book that was nearly in taters which is under your name and that glyph on your right arm. Also, the others needed to report to their boss of their clan about what just happened and everything that occurred here, so she just decided to stay here for the night." I just raised both of my eyebrows in surprise as I brought my right arm up and undid the bandages on it.
The glyph was strange, it was like a combination of a dragon tattoo that you would find on Kiryuu Kazama from the Yakuza series, and another old Latin symbol resembling something though I couldn't figure it out which made me sigh before registering something the old woman had said earlier...
"I'm sorry, ma'am but did you just say Limsa?" I say with just a slight stutter at the name Limsa but...it couldn't be...could it? The old woman just nodded before standing up slowly and going down the ladder.
"Best you get some rest, laddy; I have a feeling that you'll need your strength in the coming days." I just nodded before resting again this time though was different as in the dream I saw that I was marrying someone who looked familiar yet strange, then I grinned lightly as I imagined going on different journeys, adventures, maybe some romance…but a frown replaced my face as one thought was continuously known throughout my dreams at each turn…
XXX Downstairs at the bar/inn XXXX
An old man in a red overcoat is calmly drinking some sake before hearing the old lady approach him, he merely looked at her with the one good eye he had left as she busied herself with cleaning the bar stools as she spoke "It's as you thought, he possesses that damned glyph on his arm...how did you know?"
The man just chuckled before responding in a cryptic tone to the woman "Soon, oh so very soon, in the near future will be conflict erupting and that boy along with another will be at the epicenter or it all...will they win? Will they fall or win and be victorious? Only time will tell...give this to the boy..." He left the bar after leaving a katana to the lady which was the same one the old man was hefting around unseen on his back as the lady thought about what would happen...
"Obieron...what would your family think of you, after everything that's happened to you from that day to now...will that boy truly save us from the kingdom..."
The old woman said nothing and did nothing except throwing the katana up where the young man was sleeping and landing it right next to where his head was laying on the mattress and just grasped it as he was dreaming about something...something that was haunting him as he was tossing and turning while mumbling a person's name..."Nikki-chi...I'm so sorry...I couldn't save you...forgive me...I love you..." The old bartender heard that and was wide eyed at those sentences; he was what about 20-21 years of age and had a girl?
She hadn't met her love till she was 24...wait...was she jealous? She just chuckled as she resumed her duties cleaning up the bar after the hours had closed and business trickled down to a crawl she noticed that the old man had left something behind on the bar and chuckled as she looked at what was laying on the bar, while having a small tear run down her cheek.
'Things were so much simpler back before the King married that wretched woman who now allows her son to punish us...oh, Santos, what would you think of me who has done nothing but use your memory as a scapegoat? Forgive me, my love...
XXXXX Elsewhere along the road XXXX
The old man was walking calmly amongst the road but stopped as two people took arms up against that resembled daggers that ninja's sometimes used...did ninja's really use such small equipment or did they use it to reflect their own...the old man chuckled at his own inside joke while the two shadows that appeared suddenly dashed for the old man who just calmly sidestepped one before disarming one with a blow to the windpipe while whipping the dagger out of the hand and plunging it into their airway...the other just grimaced and that costed the person severely before it could react there was the sound of a sword being sheathed and walking along before the figure turned as it was suddenly sliced in half with the brains still intact for some reason.
"I see that your reputation precedes you, Mr. Obieron. It has been quite a while, hasn't it?"
The old man from the bar just cocked an eyebrow up...whether in exasperation or humor at the moment..."How many times will you continue to find me...Wolf? I swear you must have some kind of damn nose of a hell hound to keep sniffing me out…"
The person/figure across from the old man named Obieron just groaned and said in an exasperated tone as his silver/blue eyes sagged in remembrance "I told you before I left that life behind me now. I'm just a simple traveling merchant...that deals in more than just weapons. Don't tell anyone else lest I have to kill you...oh!" The person dodged the broadsword swipe from Obieron who still had the eyebrow raised as the person recovered "OK! OK! I get it, sorry I just don't like being reminded about that life anymore, get on I might find us a job somewhere..." Obieron just nodded and climbed on top of the chocoboo pulling the wagon which was also a mini market mixed in with the regular items that made the old man raise an eyebrow from his hazel eyes as the merchant spoke up after seeing the eyebrow raise.
"Oh, just some stuff I sell to others for the right price, and still looking for a place to settle down and find me a little missus."
"With that kind of attitude, it's still a wonder that you're still alive after all your misadventures." The old man responded back with an agitated tone of voice towards the dealer.
"Yeah, it's true…hey wait a moment...what do you mean that it's a wonder? All my misadventures were beneficial towards us back in the day." The weapons merchant/item seller said back in a rushed tone while also having an incredulous tone in his voice looking back at his friend who in return leveled a piercing glare at the weapons dealer.
"Have you forgotten not only about the weed farm, but also the hunter's and Amazon's in the woods, when you decided to lead us on that weird treasure hunt in memorium of Jaklo? It's a miracle we got away from the hunters, but the Amazon's are a completely different story...I had to use three different names to avoid them this year. Last but not least, let's also take a trip down memory lane, by also going to that haunted shack that housed nearly 20 ghosts that an old man had a perversion with." The old man said back in an incredulous tone while the person besides him just looked up with wide blue eyes while the Chocobo's he was pulling nearly squealed when he tightened the reins around their necks before replying with this one liner which led into an argument that lasted the rest of the trip...
"Oh, so it's my fault for leading us there? What about you, Mr. Playboy, with all the women wanting to have you, it's no surprise that you would want to run away from fan girls..." The two just kept bickering while the boy slowly got his strength back from the sleep before getting up in the early morning.
XXXX Again more hours later about 3 days later XXXX
It was late in the evening as the girl was again combing through the book of living people as one of the assistant's came up to the girl's leg and poked her eliciting a cute squeak of surprise from the normally composed girl, as she looked at the source before calming down "Twelve be good, Stanio, why didn't you tell me you were there?" The Taotaou just smiled wryly as he took a pose with one finger in the air and his other hand on his hip.
"We all did, Ashelia, Obi, Kiona, and Gerald all called out to you but you were so engrossed in researching the person's name you nearly did an all-nighter…again." Here Ashelia's face paled as she thought of the punishment meant for any late workers especially on her watch, as she gathered her items, she took notice of something and spoke out loud for all the Archivers.
"Hey Gerald," Here the door keeper looked up with an exasperated gaze at the girl as she blushed while finishing her thoughts "could you double check my work? I've skimmed over the C section of the names at least 5 different times, and not once did I find the family that man said he was from…" Here the eyes of all the Archivers gleamed, as Ashelia booked it out of there while hearing one of them say 'At last…a challenge…', she moved on over to the Broken Seadog, and felt joy that she had made it with a couple minutes too spare as she heard from Sarina to get some rest, no activities tonight, joy she thought as she went to an empty bed and crashed.
XXX 8:40 AM June 14, 2014/ Gemini 14, 1298 Limsa Lominsa XXX
I woke up slowly because I felt a weight on my chest and noticed that it was the Miqo'te girl...Mi'yac, right? Apparently, she had curled up on my stomach and I just raised an eyebrow before moving quietly off the bed and got her dislodged easily as I went to move down I noticed that a sword was near my bed and as I held it…the sword just felt...right in my hands...for some reason it comforted me. I grabbed it and carried it away as I jumped down the stairs on the wooden ladder, before I grabbed hold of a handle on it and silently landed before I walked up to the bar right behind the old woman who turned around and let loose a small sounding "AGH!" before hitting me with a small smile and chuckled as I pouted while I decided to ask the old lady.
"Hey, lady, where did the other people in the little lady's group go?" The old lady thought for a moment before pulling out a breakfast plate consisting of eggs, hash browns, sausages and toast, placing it in front of me to which I thanked her profusely as she rubbed my head and straightened up my wolf-life bed hair as she noticed that the sword Obieron had left was now on my back.
"I told you yesterday evening, lad, the others went in to report to their leader and will be back by tomorrow morning of two days from now, what will you do now?" I thought about that while eating the food lay out before me contemplating that with a grin...
"Probably train a bit here, and help you in general, baa-chan, maybe...OW! What was that for?!" I held my head tightly as the old woman took her walking stick back down to ground level with a stern glare as she looked at me seriously before sighing as she took out another plate which made me curious before I looked over to see Mi'yac was devouring the plate that was served to me before with gusto, as she took the last piece with a small contented sigh as she straightened up and said this sentence with a smile on her face like she was teasing the old lady. "Thanks for the meal, Sarina-baa-chan!" Here the walking stick of death was descending upon her head and with a mighty thwack while Mi'yac rubbed her head comically with tears pouring down slowly while I rubbed the bump on her head soothing her, as she chirped again only for both Sarina and me to laugh loudly while she had steam pouring out her ears from embarrassment, as I wiped the tears out of my eyes I noticed that Sarina had put down some plates loaded with a breaded chicken sandwich, some steak fries and a pickle on the side with some kind of strange drink that resembled orange juice but smelled differently as I asked what it was gaining looks of confusion from both the Miqo'te and the old lady.
"It's a drink combining jerky, choco bread, and an orange called Morning Choco. It's a homemade mixture and one of my finest." The old lady who I assumed was Sarina said with a proud grin as I sniffed it once before knocking it back all at once which both two girls surprised as I smacked my lips.
"Hot damn, this is great! That was such a good drink, it had crunchy mixed in with some sour and tangerines, a perfect combination, Sarina-baa-chan!" I say this as I prepared for my punishment as she reached out with a hand and ruffled my hair before placing another drink towards me as I drank which prompted Mi'yac to do the same although both girls were staring at me while I ate so I decided to talk a little bit more.
"Mi'yac, you keep staring at me…" Here a troll smile took over my face as my eyes lightened up while she perked an eyebrow in wariness "Don't tell me I've attracted you to be my mate from my devilish looks?" Here Mi'yac sputtered out even more incoherent noises while Sarina roared in laughter along with a couple other patrons who were just milling in while I decided to ask Mi'yac in a more serious tone. "All jokes aside, Mi'yac, is there anything particularly interesting about me to you?" Mi'yac's face had calmed down to a reasonable level while she hummed in deep thought whereas I turned my attention to Sarina.
The old lady just started making rounds as some people traveled into the bar and asked for some food as I saw that someone was also in the kitchen who was apparently another Miqo'te that was a male who was handing out dishes that were prepared expertly who had a mop of orange hair on him as his silver ears twitched as he saw me and I nodded before raising my glass to him as he smiled and went back to preparing dishes as Sarina gave him orders. Mi'yac then gained my attention by tapping me on the shoulder with her tail, grinned and posed with one arm underneath her bosom as another was raised with one finger in the air.
"Well...your scent has metal, oil and smoke, lots of it, in fact there is so much surrounding you that I thought I would faint when I first caught your scent. It also reeks of Bar-Be-Que for some reason or another. There are also scents of ocean, the forest, a little bit of mountain air and something else, but I don't know what that is yet." Mi'yac ended this little with a scrunched up nose at that while I looked up with a slightly interested face at that statement before seeing that a couple other customers were getting a little rowdy with the old lady Sarina breaking it up with two well place smacks on the head with her WSOD as I affectionately whispered it to Mi'yac who raised an eyebrow as I explained that it was an acronym for the walking stick of death which got her to giggle as Sarina came to the bar as I was finishing up the meal, Sarina decided to ask a question that would soon lead to the mother of all headaches that I would experience in my life.
"So, lad, judging from your clothing, I guess you're at least from a city in Grayston from your accent and style of hair. Don't worry none, we'll have you back to Grayston in no time at all with Mi'yac and her crew." Sarina stated as I looked up confused as she said that, while Mi'yac's eyes were glistening with thoughts of eating such great snapper and trout in the grand city as I pulled one of her cat ears lightly bringing her back down before she nearly took off my hand by chomping at it.
"Grayston, where in the seven layers of hell is that?" I say drawing a small gasp from Mi'yac who was sipping her drink while Sarina nearly let the bar glass slip while a red skin colored Roegadyn in scavenger clothes—that looked fit for a thief or rogue, came up and placed a hand on me with a knowing grin. The Final Fantasy wiki gave no clue as to how tall a Roegadyn was, easily at least 6 and a half feet of pure muscle was clamping on one of my shoulder with little force.
"Tasted the flavor of the Miqo'te and spun ye head around right proper, eh lad? Don't worry none, currently, you're from Grayston, but the little buxom beauty over there," The Roegadyn said in a British and scaly accent as he pointed at Mi'yac who squeaked as she blushed brighter than a tomato as I slightly blushed making some people gasp, as one poor bugger fell outta his chair and was knocked unconscious as two other lads picked him up and hauled him away, "decided to have a little fun with ye, last night, and hauled your ass over here to...eh where da hell we at again, Tom? I forgot last night and what happened…" He turned around to the Hume who was dressed in fancy clothing befitting that of a noble yet had an aura of confidence around him as he started drinking heavily from one of the mugs at the table.
"Lower Lominsa, mate, we're in Limsa Lominsa, waiting for transport back to our home." The Hume said as he drank again before letting out a burp and crashing on the table that he was sitting at while everyone exchanged money as the Roegadyn slapped me on the back for good measure before rejoining the group at the table as I turned around to notice that Mi'yac now had a blush that could rival an atomic explosion while Sarina was grinning like a cat that caught the canary while I just decided to ask what the hell was going on.
"Okay, so I don't mind what's happening around here but…could I see the city, perhaps?" Here Mi'yac's and Sarina's expression became confused with a raised eyebrow as I continued "I don't remember much after the abyss wraith nailed me, so I don't really know the area well enough, but with Mi'yac who knows the area quite well, can take me to some places like the market or the courtyards so I can get a layout in the city…so can I go?" I finished my explanation with a raised eyebrow as Sarina was contemplating this while Mi'yac looked like her brain would implode as her tail swished frantically around nearly making a couple patrons trip as they all cried out in alarm yet her hands went up to her hair to clutch it in either fear or embarrassment as she apologized before getting back to observing Sarina.
Sarina eventually let loose a sigh as she stood up, motioning me to join her as did Mi'yac while she went into a closet and pulled out some clothes that were strangely…well-kept after and strangely adventurous as I held them while walking with Sarina to a bathroom "Make certain you leave the clothes you have on in this bag, son, you'll probably gain the attention of the Yellow Jackets, and you do not want that." Sarina said the last few words with such an intense tone of voice that I shuddered and nodded frantically at the veiled threat, while Mi'yac sniggered as I just glared at her.
I sighed as I took off my glasses and placed them on the shelf near the sink as Mi'yac tilted her head although, I took off my shirt making her blush, stutter along with wide eyes and Sarina just stare with an amused eyebrow as I just grinned at Mi'yac as I sauntered towards her making her back up until she was pressed up against the wall while I leaned in with a grin stroking Mi'yac's hair as she now blushing as bright red as an apple while I whispered seductively right into one of her ears.
"Perhaps we can use this room later tonight, it'd be my pleasure giving you a reward for saving me." Mi'yac moaned a bit as I nibbled on her right ear that I was talking into before she shot up, slapped me on the left cheek and rushed out the door with hands covering her face screaming 'Explore the city yourself, you shameless bastard!' I turned around to find Sarina laughing jollily while I moved over to the remaining clothes and she stepped out for me to take in the armor that was awesome! While stripping down I felt both of my pockets and my face lightened up before falling into fear…I had my phone and my wallet in there both were pieces of my own world that I didn't want anyone other than myself know about them, so I hid them in a compartment that wasn't seen unless you really looked at it before taking in the armor that Sarina had given me.
The chest plate was an even light bronze armor that had stylized for more agile approach almost for fast sword attacks, yet heavy enough to get by from a lance if I could tell, so I donned that after putting on the white undershirt then still in my underwear I got on the waist armor, it was long enough to reach my kneecaps, the leg armor was stylized the same as the waist armor-green with burning white on it-the shoulder pads were a good enough proof of it being bronze with a white emblazed dragon design on the right shoulder pad, my feet were covered by comfortable wool socks followed up by the leg armor. The gauntlets that covered my hands were stylized in light bronze yet easily felt right at home after a couple of test swings with the sword.
Picking up the sword that was left with me on my old clothes I put them in a bag while the sword was now on my left hip holster while I noticed another sword hanging off to the right side though…it looked old…maybe a blacksmith could fix it or something…I splashed some water on my face and stepped out of the washroom while bringing the bag towards the others as my glasses were still on my face. Sarina was waiting along with Mi'yac and that Elvan woman Jao'un, all three-stared wide eyed as I twirled in place for them only for Sarina to gasp and nearly collapse as Jao'un was there aiding her while Mi'yac was dancing around me complimenting me-still red faced the tsundere- as I turned back to the ladies at the counter.
"Well, I'm all set Sarina, think I can get that tour of the city now? With the Elvan woman…Jao'un, was it?" Here I received a nod from the Elvan lady as I smiled brightly in her direction, making her wide eyed a little bit as I continued, "She'll help me out a lot in the knowledge and lore of the city, while Mi'yac can show me the best spot to eat and where to get information from…we'll be back in about I want to say…" Here I paused to look at the clock that showed it was around 11:30 am and slowly ticking away until it was noon "Three hours, for the first hour and a half, both Mi'yac and Jao'un will show me what places are important to their cultures as well as what kind of things I can accomplish in repaying them for healing me and getting me back to full strength. Then we head to a café or something of the like to grab some grub, and rest for half an hour before moving on to whatever the girls wish to learn about me or what I wish to learn about the city." The girls looked shocked and amazed at that before agreeing with another chirp from Mi'yac who spluttered as the others roared with laughter along with me.
I dried my eyes of tears and nodded at Sarina, who gave a go ahead nod with a chuckle at Mi'yac who pouted and went out the door as I travelled to one of the doors after Jao'un went through them, leading to a very pleasant morning view of a seaside town that was literally built into the damn sea. The town was literally buzzing with activity as I saw some sailors throw rope for a ship coming into anchor. Another group was dressed like rogues as they all gathered around before scattering when another group showed up to chase them away. I saw the two trotting away so I caught up as Mi'yac just blushed whereas Jao'un kept a glance on me before I slammed head first into a sign as a couple others saw this and laughed at my misfortune as Jao'un panicked a bit while Mi'yac had a vindictive smirk on her face.
I just glared at Mi'yac when she tried to view something on a stall I jerked her tail a bit making her jump, as Jao'un had a raised eyebrow due to our interaction as she voiced herself while we walked "So, what exactly do you remember after the whole portal thing?" I looked at the elf as she nodded before going over to a side store as I followed while Mi'yac stayed behind to talk to a Highlander.
"I remember someone trying to take the necklace my sis gave me for one of my birthdays, and I'll kick the person who…" I trailed off here as Jao'un suddenly blushed while Mi'yac was now in an argument with the Highlander about what type of metal was better mithril or adamantine for armor and weapons. "Ah, why were you so fascinated with it? It's a memoir from my sis about what my spirit animal would be." A pointed look and raised eyebrow was from Jao'un as she gave some items to a vendor as some items were given back while we made small talk as Mi'yac came over with a victorious smile on her face while the vendor now had his face on the desk with broken laughter coming from him as two other comforted him while we walked Jao'un suddenly grabbed my attention as she pointed with her staff at a spire like building.
"That building houses both the Mages and Scholars jobs, which I am a member of and houses the books that will prove invaluable for your return," Jao'un paused as I winced which made both Mi'yac and her look at me in concern before continuing on "they also have beginner courses should you be interested in learning the trade. The building there that looks like a cave belongs to the Miner's Guild, they supply the blacksmiths, armor makers and gold smiths with the ores to create weapons, jewelry, and shields along with armor." Moving on to get a different look at the city, I noticed that there were different sections and saw an armored dude with twin broadswords easily defeat a couple of monsters that had gotten loose.
Looking up, I noticed that Mi'yac had called for my attention as Jao'un was now standing in front of someone barring them passage as I just had a neutral face on while the rogue now looked at me with a cocky grin, before speaking up to the two with a lecherous grin "Well, now look whose back for some fun, the elf girl and the cat whore…who the hell are you?" I gave no indication I heard him just a blank stare and a 'huh' from my lips as he continued to look at me while the other two with him advanced on me. He was wearing some baggy clothing, while the other two wore scraggy clothing with knives and daggers as the two girls looked on in fear.
"Hey, I'm talking to ya, boy! You got a death wish or some…GAK!" He tried to put his knife near my throat only for me to punch him right across the face making him fly away as his two lackeys tried to kill me only for one to have a broken entire right arm and the other one…I threw him over the railing making everyone have wide eyes as we all heard a loud splash occur with me stepping towards the arrogant bastard whose eyes widen as I stabbed my sword right in front of his head, making him become a statue as I dragged him over as well as the one who tried to run away beneath the two ladies.
"Now, I don't know what kind of upbringing you lazy bastards have had, but where I'm from we have a bit of a gentleman's code, that when a lady is not interested you either respect her wishes and leave her alone…or you have her dad put a 20-gauge buckshot round right in yer soddin' balls, mates." I finished with the most malicious grin as the two idiots lost all color in their face and yelled out 'sorry' as they ran away with a brown spot in their shorts.
I sighed contently as I turned around only to have Mi'yac collide with my chest and murmur 'thank you' repeatedly, as Jao'un was looking at me in concern then down at the idiot I threw over the railing and speaking up "We need to go…the Yellowjackets are coming." They didn't find anyone as we all booked it with me running on some rooftops and the two running through the streets as I noticed a thief and launched one of the pouches I pinched at him and said "that's payment for getting the yellowjackets distracted for me and two others!" Here the eyes of the thief lightened up as I ran keeping up like Altair from Assassin's Creed as I heard "Stop! Rogue!".
I jumped down an alleyway and remained perfectly still, as the officer looked around before hearing a voice "Help, officer, he went that way!" and ran out, I waited five more minutes before jogging out of the alleyway and noticed Mi'yac and Jao'un, so I whistled to get their attention as they grinned at me before I grinned back as we walked towards a café.
I just grinned victoriously as Mi'yac looked at me with admiration "That was bloody amazing! I've never seen anyone do those kind of combat moves before! How exactly did you break that guy's arm?!" Here I just chuckled as Jao'un was talking to someone that looked like a waiter take a couple looks in our direction. "Well, it was quite easy, we have multiple martial arts, the one I'm trained in is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or Disarming Techniques. The move was called the kubori arm bar, it's when someone tries to attack you and you disarm them before hitting them hard enough in the elbow to either break it or create an opening to attack the enemy." Here the girls nodded as a light lunch appeared in the form of a couple of steak sandwiches, more fries, and a drink, as I shared some funny stories about my past including one from when I was very little.
"I'm telling you, I'm serious, Brandon had a huge ass pet snake easily 5 feet long! I thought that thing was gonna swallow me whole!" Mi'yac, Jao'un and a good number of people laughed jovially at before someone in yellow armor appeared at the front door to the café making me raise an eyebrow as I pointed at them to Mi'yac and Jao'un who when the person saw me sighed as they ventured over.
"Mi'yac, Lady Jao'un, I'm going to have to ask your friend to come with me to Sank'lo Manor to explain his crimes." I just raised an eyebrow before leaning back in my seat with hands behind my head along with my feet on the table making the person just blink before stating some more. "His son, Trevor, along with his friends Mike and Bradley report that not only did he steal from them but he also attacked them without any provocation." Here I snorted and laughed a little bit making everyone stare at me yet I listed what had happened before making the guard blink at that.
"T-that's truly what happened? While I know Mister Sank'lo will be mad…he will not believe, him and his wife believe their son is a god sent gift…however he will listen if you challenge one of them to combat." Here I nodded and request combat to the three idiots as the guard blinked before nodding as me and the other two went on our way after I waved goodbye.
Mi'yac took over talking after we walked through another marketplace "So, as you can guess Jao'un is a healer and I'm a support archer. Healers are still capable of damage by using white magic, don't worry we'll teach you how to use magic and see if that has any effect on you, supports usually do like buffs or debuffs on enemies and try to draw some attention to them or help the people. You look like a damage dealer, a dps for short, and will probably evolve into a swordsman or ronin to me. Also, think you would do good as an armourer or a blacksmith, maybe both?" Mi'yac started rambling as I lightly pulled on her ears making her follow with squinted eyes as Jao'un walked towards some people and exchanged some items for coins.
Jao'un and Mi'yac explained that it was called gil, and took out some for me and I protested at first but the glares from the two made me think otherwise as I purchased a quiver, a spell book that Jao'un looked at, and a couple of books on cleaning and maintaining a sword as both girls looked surprised at that.
"You two have done a lot for me, saving my ass literally, helping me out and finding out what was what, you two deserve this…please accept this." Both of the girls had small smiles on their faces as Mi'yac had a joyful expression as she fingered the quiver and felt it in her hands as Jao'un smiled lightly with her new book in hand as we ventured back to The Broken Seadog.
End of Chapter 1: Prologue of the Beginning
XXX
Good spot to end it, don'tcha think so, Mr. Rainer?
James Rainer from StarCraft: *chuckles* Yeah, pup I think so...Damn it, kid, now you got me calling you it now. *we both chuckle*
Oh, right! Nearly forgot! *Rainer looks up with a raised eyebrow* The abyss wraith is a mixture between a gargoyle and a wraith you see in scary movies so just have that image rolling around in your head. Also, it claws are glowing green with venom coursing through them. A Feeding Abyss wraith needs nourishment from the people it kills by eating their souls...usually they need about 3 to 5 human souls and they end up showing upon the creature's stomach.
Anyway, here is the revised intro chapter for my Final Fantasy adventure, told you I was making a comeback with more improved scenes. Here are the Latin translations for the stuff up here also this will be a combination of both Latin and Ancient Greek mixed into the story! Hopeyalikeit!

CREPITUS!
Fire of Chaos, heed my call and cinder all to ashes! Let none stand as you purge the land with your fire as dark as night! Heed thy call, come forth and burn it all! ERUPTION!
