"I wanted to thank you. For earlier."

"Hm? Oh yeah, that." Max gave him an easy grin. "It wasn't that big a deal-- that's what teammates do for each other, right?"

"Y-yes, but that's the first time anyone's done that for me, and I just felt like I should say... something's wrong with your hand."

Max's grin turned from easy to embarrassed. "Oh. Um, I was trying to beat my radio-cassette player into working for me, and I guess it beat back." He glanced warily at the still bleeding scratches. "I should probably break down and get a CD player, but all my favorite songs are on tape."

Danny sat down next to him, taking the injured hand gently. "Here. Let me look at it."

"It's just a couple of scratches, I'll be fine--"

"I want to." Danny gave him what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "Just think of it as me thanking you for saving me earlier."

He hadn't been a Power Ranger long, but Danny had already learned to keep medical supplies on hand, so he already had some disinfectant and gauze nearby. In almost no time at all, Max's hand was bandaged neatly. "Does that feel any better?"

"Actually, yeah-- not that I needed help, it's not like I'm a kid or anything," Max added hastily.

"I know you're not." Danny smiled again. "I'll let you listen to your tapes in peace." He stood up to leave, but not before taking Max's injured hand and kissing it so quickly there was no way he could have realized he had done it.

But Max had, as he stared down at the bandage several moments after Danny had left.

"I guess I can stick with my cassette player for a little while longer."
