Title: Child's Play.

Author: Silver Lightning.

Disclaimer: These characters do not belong to me. They never have and they never will. They were created by J.R.R.Tolkien and therefore belong to whoever owns the copyrights and so on and so forth.

Authors Notes: OK. This is my first fanfic. As in first one ever. Hopefully it will be OK and you'll like it. If you do not then please review and tell me why, as I like to know what people do and do not like. Thanks. Also this story is SLASH. Therefore if you do not like that then press that little back arrow in the corner of the screen and go read some nice Aragorn/Arwen fic or a fluffy, little Legolas/Original Character fic.

This is m/m of the Aragorn/Legolas nature. It's pretty mild but it is slash.

It's set somewhere in the third book after Sauron's been defeated, yet before anyone sets out across the sea, also Arwen hasn't given up her immortality yet. OK?

Words that are between a set of these / / and which are written in italics are Legolas' thoughts.

Oh and this is dedicated to my good friends Loz (EeViLnEsS) who has supported me through the best and worst of my moods and Laz (Sasleggolas)

Who has helped me beta my work and helped me with my various scholarly downfalls. Thanks I couldn't do it without you.

Well, that's the notes done so on with the fic.

1 Prologue

1.1 Legolas glanced around the woodland area that the Fellowship was riding through and sighed. They were returning from Minas Tirith where Sauron's forces had been defeated. They were headed for Rivendell where they were going to attend a meeting of the Council and then say farewell to each other and return to their own separate lives. They were also going so that Aragorn, the newly crowned King of Gondor, could take his bride-to-be, Arwen, back to Gondor with him.

Everything seemed to be going as it should be. Merry and Pippin were playfully arguing and complaining about being hungry, which was normal for them at this time of day. Gimli seemed to be having a conversation with Gandalf, with whom he was sharing a horse.

/Who'd of thought that a Dwarf would come to ride horses without being forced. He could walk with the Hobbits and myself easily enough./

With this thought Legolas turned to look at Sam and Frodo, who had been surprisingly quiet throughout the journey. He noticed that not only were they walking by themselves but they were also holding hands.

/When did that happen? I mean it's not that surprising I suppose. They always have had feelings for each other, I've been able to tell that ever since I first met them. I guess that their being alone in Mordor must've made them realise what they felt. I think that must be the only good thing about this whole mission./

He turned once again to the front of the company where Aragorn was riding.

/He's so handsome, I wish…NO! You can't think about him like this. He's your friend, he's getting married. He's in LOVE! No matter what, I can't mess that up for him. I can't tell him. No matter…/

Legolas was startled out of his thoughts as he heard a shout. Three elves were coming to greet them and act as an Escort through the valley. They had arrived in Rivendell. Legolas sighed and continued on. /I can't tell. No matter how much I love him/
