To some people high school is a world where all that matters is acne, contacts, popularity and girls and guys. Mostly the last one. Not for me though. I prefer not to have a girlfriend. Girls always swoon around me and flirt with me. I usually ignore them. I don't know why they are paying attention to me now. For the past three years everyone ignored me, and then I reached Senior year and every girl chased after me. I hated it. I don't want a girlfriend.
That is, until today.
I sat at my desk doodling in my notebook while Mr. North was out in the front office. When I heard the door open again, I looked up and my eyes immediately went wide. I stared at Mr. North and most importantly, the new kid. Her white hair was platinum, her eyes forget-me-not blue and her skin was very pale. I smiled and leaned my cheek on my hand. I heard someone wolf-whistle and I turned to look at the culprit. I brought my hand to my head.
"Of course." I whispered. Linus Black was the most popular guy in school. With his eerie black hair and yellow eyes, girls found him attractive. Every girl wanted either him or me. I usually sent them his way. Linus smirked at me and made a pouty face. I glared at turned towards Mr. North.
"Silence, students." Mr. North said. Everyone fell silent. The new girl looked around the classroom and hugged her books closer to her chest. "This is Elsa Snow. She moved here from Arendelle, Sweden." Mr. North said smiling widely. She looked over at me and took me out of my daze. She giggled and her cheeks turned pink. "Ms. Snow, how about you sit next to Mr. Frost." Mr. North said pointing at the empty seat next to me. I immediately felt my heart skip a beat. Elsa sat down and looked at me and gave me a sweet sideways smile. I smiled back and she giggled. I turned towards Linus who was now making a crude hand gesture at me. I glared at him. He turned back to the front of the room with a nasty smirk on his face. I turned back to my notebook and saw a paper slide onto my desk. I looked over at Elsa and she smiled. I opened the note.
I'm Elsa, you are?
I looked up at Elsa. She was looking at the front of the room now.
Jack Frost.
I replied. I set the note on her desk and she took the note and read it.
"Mr. North? Jack is passing notes!" Elsa said. I looked at her in disbelief.
"Jack? Would you please stand up and tell us what you wrote?" Mr. North said. I stared at him.
"She wrote a note to me asking who I was." I explained.
"Oh, sure. Blame it on me, will you." Elsa said. I stared at her. I could not believe this.
"Wha-?"
"He asked me on a date." Elsa said. I stared at her. I couldn't believe my ears. Of course the prettiest one had to be a brat. She smirked at me.
"Jack, please meet me here after school." Mr. North said. My mouth opened to protest, but North shot me a nasty look. I slouched in my chair and continued to doodle.
After school that day I made my way to Mr. North's classroom. I heard giggling and I stopped. I walked slowly forward and looked down the cafeteria hall. I saw Linus flirting with Elsa. I couldn't believe it. She turned my way and I quickly ran down the hall and entered North's classroom before she could get to me. Or Linus. I sat down on my usual desk and took out my binder. The classroom door opened. I looked up. At first the face shocked me. It was the exact same as Elsa's, but the girl had brown-red hair and her eyes were chestnut. She walked up next to me and pointed at the seat next to me.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked.
"No." I replied.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" She asked.
"No." I sighed. I continued to draw in my notebook. I looked over at her as she opened her binder. Anna Snow. I read. "Are you related to Elsa Snow by any chance?" I asked. She looked up.
"Yes. I'm her sister." The girl replied. I stared at her.
"You have this class, too?" I asked. She blinked.
"Yes." She answered.
"Your sister and I sit next to each other. She sits there." I stated. She blinked again.
"You're Jack?" She asked looking at me in disgust.
"Yes." I said stretching the 'Y'.
"You're the one who almost got my sister into trouble this morning?" She asked. I stared at her in disbelief.
"Excuse me?" I said turning more towards her. She crossed her arms.
"You don't give someone a note and when they pass it back to you, you blame them for passing notes, Jack Frost." She snapped. I stared at her in disbelief.
"She did that to me!" I stated. She glared.
"Stop lying! Punzie was right about you!" She yelled. Mr. North turned and shushed us.
"Punzie?" I asked myself. "Oh, Rapunzel." I said. Anna glared. She grabbed her things and moved to a different desk. Mr. North looked over at me in question. I shrugged and continued to doodle. I hated detention. How did Anna get detention, I wonder? I thought. I looked over at her and she looked up at me and snapped her pencil in half. Mr. North looked back up and Anna quickly turned her head back to her binder. I sighed. Did the entire Snow family hate me? I thought. No, stupid. You haven't even met their parents. I looked down at my paper and drew a picture of a famous rapper.
I walked to my motorcycle and mounted. I looked over as the doors opened and saw Anna walking out. I looked over to the only other car in the parking lot. It was a light blue convertible. A person got out and ruffled her hair with her fingers. My mouth immediately dropped. She opened her eyes and showed her forget-me-not eyes. I sighed. She was gorgeous-no-sexy. Her form-fitting black tank-top and light blue skinny jeans. Her red converse finished the outfit beautifully. Her necklace was a silver snowflake with a crystal in the middle. I found my mouth almost drooling. I wiped my mouth and looked up. I was shocked when I found her right in front of my face. I jumped backwards and almost fell off of my motorcycle. She smirked.
"Why were you staring? Hasn't your mummy ever told you it's not nice to stare?" She said grabbing hold of my dark blue v-neck. I stared into her amazing eyes. I tried to hold down a blush.
"I-um-er-"
"Shut up." She snapped letting go of my shirt. I stared as she walked back towards her car.
I plopped onto my bed. I could still feel her tight grip on my shirt. I looked in the mirror and found my face surprisingly flushed. I looked towards the door as I heard a knock.
"Jack darling, someone's here to see you." My mother said. I looked at her. Who could be visiting me? I thought. I got off the bed and walked towards the door. I walked down the spiral staircase and opened the door. The person standing there shocked me. I quickly smoothed down my hair.
"Elsa. What a-surprise?" I said leaning against the door jam. I suddenly felt a slap on my face. I turned towards her, her face suddenly fierce and red. "What the hell?" I asked.
"I do not appreciate you not only messing around with me, but blaming my sister on something you did!" She snapped. I stared at her.
"What are you talking about?!" I asked.
"Oh like you don't know!" She shouted. I looked at her harshly.
"I don't." I replied. She stared at me.
"YOU KISSED MY SISTER, YOU SON OF A-!"
"KISSED HER?!" I yelled. "I didn't lay a finger on your sister!" She looked as though she might explode.
"Don't lie!" She slapped my face again.
"I'm not lying! I never lie! Everyone knows that!" I yelled. "I play a prank on a teacher, I admit it!" I screamed. "I did not kiss your stupid sister!" I screamed.
"Stupid?!" She shouted. "My sister is nowhere near you!" She shrieked. Ouch. I thought.
"I'm not stupid!" I shouted. She stared at me in disbelief.
"You look stupid." She said. I stared at her. Double ouch.
"Maybe you should leave and tell your lying sister to back off!" I shouted. She looked insulted. I suddenly saw her eyes turn glassy.
"You don't know her." She whispered. "You don't know what dangers she's had in her life." She quickly turned around and ran back to her car.
"Elsa!" I shouted. I saw her, before she drove away, wipe a tear under her eye. I sighed and walked back into the house and slammed the door. I opened my eyes to see my little sister, Emma.
"Who were you yelling at?" She asked.
"No one." I replied grumpily. She smirked.
"Jack, you're a bad liar." She stated. I snorted.
"I know." She stared at me deeply.
"Jack, please tell me. You know you can trust me." She stated. I looked at her.
"Em, I'm not in the mood to talk." I said. She huffed.
"Please talk to me!" She said shaking my arm. I turned towards my sister. I couldn't believe she was already fourteen. My baby sister is a freshman! I stared at her eager face. I sighed.
"Just the new girl who keeps getting me into trouble." I said. Emma looked at me shocked.
"Elsa and Anna?" She asked. I stared at her.
"Y-yeah." I said.
"They were so nice to me! Especially Anna!" Emma said. I stared at her.
"What?!" I looked at her.
"They were both very sweet." She said. She read my face. "But you're not lying." She said. I slid down to the floor and buried my face in my knees.
"I don't understand them." I said, my voice muffled. Emma sat down next to me and crossed her legs.
"What's wrong?" She asked. I looked up at her.
"Nothing." I said.
"You're lying, Jack." She said. I groaned.
"Emma leave me alone." I said.
"Oh no you don't! Don't go shutting me out! You already did that to Jamie and now he's in another foster home because he didn't have anyone to hang out with!" Emma said. Jamie Bennet was the boy my family cared for after his parents were murdered. I started to ignore him after sophomore year. He started getting really depressed and went to another foster home. He and his sister, Sophie, were separate the first time they went into foster care. Cruel if you ask me.
"Don't bring Jamie into this!" I shouted. Emma scowled at me. She got up and walked into the kitchen. I heard several pantries slam closed several times. I sighed. I hated making Emma angry, but sometimes it was the only thing that could make her leave me alone.
Elsa stared out her window. She kept seeing Jack's angry and red face. She knew her sister was lying. She didn't like to admit it. She felt the ice in her veins grow and move faster and faster. Conceal, don't feel. She thought. She stared down at her hands and let out a shriek as ice flew out of her hands and hit the ceiling.
"Elsa?" She heard Anna say.
"Anna go away." She said trying to melt the ice on the ceiling.
"I brought you some peppermint tea and a chocolate bar. Mum says it'll be good to clear your mind from homework. You had a rough day." Anna opened the door slightly. Elsa quickly ran to the door and grabbed her leather gloves off of a chair. She grabbed the chocolate and the tea and immediately closed and locked her door. She sat at her window seat and pulled the blanket onto her lap.
He really was quite cute. She thought. She stared out her window. Something made her jump.
"Elsa, darling. Someone's at the door." Her mother said. Elsa jumped off the window and set down her snack. She ran down the marble staircase and wrenched the front door open. There his face was. She looked at him making sure her face showed disgust. This was rather hard considering his face was beautiful. It looked like it was carved from marble itself-
No Elsa! She scolded herself. He gave her a small smile.
"What're you doing here?" She asked. His smiled washed off his face. "How'd you get this address?" Elsa looked at his face trying to read it.
"I just wanted to say sorry about earlier today. That was really harsh and I just wanted to let you know, I'm not usually like that." He explained. She looked at him. She tried to find any sign of lies in his face and voice. Nothing. He was telling the truth. She relaxed a bit.
"What do you want?" She asked. Her voice was harsher than intended.
"I would like to start over?" He asked. She gave him a once over.
"No." She started closing the door when he put his foot down in between the door and the doorframe. "Excuse me?" She said opening the door again.
"I said I would like to start over." He said. She stared at him again.
"Fine." She grumbled. He stuck out his hand.
"I'm Jack. Jack Frost." He said. She stared at his hand for a moment. She then slowly lifted her frail hand and grasped his.
"Elsa. Elsa Snow." She said. He smiled at her. She returned the smile. Her smile was crooked. He smirked at it. She felt her face blush a tiny bit.
"Did I make you blush?" He joked. She gave him a joking glare.
"No. My cheeks are naturally rosy." She replied. He chuckled.
"Hey, um, my mum is having a dinner party with a family friend. I was wondering if your family would like to come?" He asked. Elsa stared. She gave him another once over and nodded.
"I'd love to."
