The Lost and Lonely
"But to lose Simba, who had barely begun to live..." Scar let the words sink into the lioness' he had gathered around him with fake tears. "For me, it is a deep, personal loss." Nala nudged her mother's arm, crying. She had just seen him moments before he went into the gorge. "So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne." Hyena shadows started appearing on the walls of Priderock. "Yet out of the ashes of this tragedy we shall rise." The lionesses gasped. "To greet the dawning of a new era in which lion and hyena come together in a great and glorious future." Hyenas were laughing all around the lionesses. Scar climbed Priderock and let out an ear deafening roar, leaving the lioness' to grieve the loss of Simba and Mufasa.
"Come my child." Sarafina said to Nala softly. "Up to the den, let Sarabi grieve in peace." Nala walked up with her mother, passing hundreds of hyenas, many with hunger in their eyes.
"Mom, they are scaring me." Nala was petrified with fear.
"Don't worry my child, we will be safe." Sarafina said to her child with uncertainty. With that, the lionesses went into the den for the rest of the night, fearing what will come in the next years.
