This is a quick, supposedly humorous, one-shot thing based off of a comic by the ever-wonderful, and incredibly talented RiaKitsuneYoukai! You can find a link to it on my profile page.

It was much funnier as a comic than as a FanFic, but I tried.

(Blind Bank)

Not too far off a large stone monument stood at the edge of a cliff. It made an impressive sight, as it stood tall near the edge of a sheer drop-off into the ocean. Aang ran towards it, pointing with interest.

"Whoa! What is this place?"

His companions traveled over at a much slower pace, they were interested, but didn't see the point of running over and making a big deal of the stone. They were looking with interest when a voice made them jump.

"It's called 'Blind Bank'."

An old man in green had appeared from… somewhere, and was standing nearby.

"Where'd he come from?" Zuko muttered.

Aang didn't hear, but looked at the newcomer with interest.

"Why?"

The old man sighed and closed his eyes. When he spoke, it was with the voice of a storyteller. His words seemed to paint a picture in their minds (save Toph's, of course).

"Many years ago…" he began, "… there were two lovers of the Earth Kingdom."

"Aren't there always?" Sokka murmured.

Only Zuko and Toph heard him; they glanced at him in confusion.

The man continued telling his story. "The woman left her rich family to be with her poor love - so poor, in fact, that they could not pay their taxes."

Here he paused and shook his head sadly. Aang and Katara leaned forward, hanging on his every word.

"The man was taken away as punishment."

The air was heavy with silence for a few moments. The man was quieter when he continued

"The woman chased him to the cliffside - but she was blind, and could not see the edge." Here the man paused and closed his eyes sadly. "She fell into the ocean."

For many long moments, all was silent. Everyone in the group, sans Toph, had eyes as wide as the moon. They stared at the stone near the edge of the cliff with the same thoughts.

Blind, rich, Earth Kingdom… TOPH!

Toph's eyes were narrowed, her brows lowered. Her thoughts were rather different.

Spirits, that was a stupid story…

Nobody moved or said anything until, without any warning whatsoever; Aang threw his arms around Toph's shoulders with a cry.

"AHHH!"

He held on tightly, as though he feared that she might topple over the edge, which was at least ten feet away, at any moment. Katara was hardly a second behind him, and Zuko had grabbed her sleeve in the same moment.

"Buh?" Toph said in wide-eyed confusion as she blushed furiously.

A/N: Well, its not my favorite piece of work... I think that I'm not happy with it because it was so much funnier in comic form. Again, the idea was by RiaKitsuneYoukai. You can find a link to the comic on my profile page since I can't post links in a story.
