This little oneshot was inspired after listening to a song called The Islander by a Finnish group called Nightwish. This is a slight Puzzleshipping oneshot. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story. Thank you.
The salty sea wind blew across the ocean, seagulls fluttering against the bright blue sky. Fish leapt out of the water, their scales shining with the sun. Along the docks, people were fishing, catching things like sea bass, red snappers, and other things. Others were just enjoying the breeze along the coast.
One such man was sitting down by the edge of the dock, legs dangling towards the water. His multicolored, spiky hair blew backward with the wind. His golden bangs were hanging over his confident indigo eyes. He leaned his head back, letting the breeze tickle his skin. A small shadow fell over him, which caused him to turn his head. He saw a boy that looked just like him, but his eyes were pure and bright. He smiled lightly, offering the boy a seat beside him.
"What're you doing down here, Pharaoh?" the young teen asked the other. "Why did you decide to come to the beach by yourself?"
"I was just thinking about some things, Yugi," the man, or the Pharaoh, replied, watching seagulls soar through the air. As his eyes followed the birds, the boy, Yugi, looked up at the clouds, a soft smile crossing his face.
"You know, the ocean is beautiful this time of day," he whispered, watching the clouds pass by. "Especially when the sun sets, and the sky turns different colors. It really feels like there's a whole other world down in that water." The Pharaoh looked over at him.
"That's pretty deep thinking, Yugi," he told him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Perhaps there is another world in the ocean. For the marine life, I mean. Surely people couldn't live there."
"I guess you're right," Yugi muttered, staring down at the waves. "That's just a thought. Nothing more." As he saw small fish jump out of the water, he heard the Pharaoh humming a song. Turning his head, he saw the Pharaoh leaning back on the dock, humming softly. He opened one of his eyes, and noticed Yugi staring down at him.
"I'm just enjoying the breeze," he told him, falling on his back. Again, he began to hum, but a bit louder this time. "Horizon crying the tears he left behind long ago."
"What song is that?" Yugi wanted to know.
"The Islander." He lifted himself off the dock, and moved around to Yugi's back. Wrapping his arms around the boy's neck, he embraced him. Yugi sighed, and leaned his head back onto the Pharaoh's chest. As the sun began to set into the sky, the ocean began to be painted with pink, indigo, violet, and a deep blue. The two watched as the sun slowly began to sink beneath the ocean, the Pharaoh humming the same song.
"This is the long forgotten light at the end of the world." Yugi smiled, closing his eyes as his head rested against his other self's chest.
"Arigato, mou hitori no boku," the boy whispered, softly falling asleep as the wind picked up. The Pharaoh looked down at his aibou and smiled.
