Sunflowers! Everywhere! It was magnificent, so bright and enthralling! He couldn't help spinning around in them. Matthew had never seen so many sunflowers in once place. Back in his country, sunflowers were a rarity, but apparently, Ivan had enough free time to raise what was surely the largest sunflower garden in the world.

Now, when Ivan had first invited Matthew to come visit his country, Matthew had been less than enthusiastic. However, he was so thrilled to be acknowledged that he accepted nearly immediately anyways.

Upon his arrival, Matthew had discovered that Russian climates were much similar to his own, so he was rather surprised to find that Ivan had taken the great care to raise such an expansive garden in the frozen weather. The Canadian had been so absorbed in all the flowers around him; he always didn't notice the Russian slowly creeping up behind him.

"Algorithms!" Ivan cried popping up in front of Matthew, who jumped back in surprise, then looked up at the larger country in shock.

"W-what?" Matthew asked quietly, slowly beginning to regret his decision to visit this very…odd country. "I said algorithms, da? I need help with them…" Matthew paused. He didn't even know what algorithms were, much less how he could possibly help with them

"I…I don't really k-know what algorithms are…I'm sorry…" Matthew quietly apologized in typical Canadian fashion. Ivan stared at him for a few seconds, a deep purple aura slowly filling the air around the two.

"You must now become one with Mother Russia." He said, smiling creepily as he reached out to grab the other nation. Matthew quickly stepped away from his grasp, but didn't get a chance to run away since Ivan had quickly caught a hold of his sleeve, successfully hindering the slightly smaller nation from escaping.

"P-please…let me go. I…I can find someone to h-help with the algorithms." Matthew begged, but Ivan just started pulling him away, dragging the nation through the beautiful field of sunflowers that not moments ago had made the Canadian feel almost at ease.

After dragging Matthew all the way to his house, Ivan pulled him through the front door and sat him on the couch before disappearing to another room. Matthew considered running away, but he knew it was no use. He could never get far enough away without getting caught and dragged right back, so he settled for just waiting for Ivan to return, shaking with fear the entire time.

Once the Russian finally returned, he was holding something behind his back. He put his hands in front of himself, grinning to reveal a piece of cake. He handed the glass plate to Matthew who cautiously took it and set it in his lap as Ivan took a seat beside him, watching and waiting expectantly for Matthew to take a bite.

"W-why are you giving me this cake?" Matthew asked warily.

"Because! I…I'm trying to make friend, da? I've been pretty lonely since everyone moved out…I guess I'm just…not good at making friends, da?" Ivan said, looking away slightly sad.

A small amount of pity for the lonely nation hit Matthew and he gave a sympathetic smile before taking a few bites of the cake.

Not even twenty seconds later, Matthew fell to the floor gasping as the poison spread farther in him before taking his final breath.

Ivan chuckled to himself, "Ah, that never gets old."
