Welcome to my first story! I am still trying to get my footings with this kind of writing style, so I am looking for all the feedback I can get!
Prologue
It had been 3 days since she had heard from him. She was pacing around the apartment, constantly checking her Pearphone to see if he had left her a message. All of a sudden, there was a knock on the front door. She went to open the door and 2 Seattle PD officers greated her.
"Are you Carly Shay?" asked one of the officers.
"Yes", she responded, as her eyes got teary.
"We have some bad news for you about your brother Spencer"
That was the last thing she remembered hearing as things went dark and she collapsed to the floor.
Chapter 1
3 days earlier
"CARLY… CARLY", shouted Spencer as he ran around the living room of the apartment.
Slowly Carly came down the stairs, "What, its 8 am on Saturday".
Spencer ran up to her and gave her the biggest hug he had ever given her before and before she knew it, was being spun around the room.
"What is going on, I have never seen you this happy so early in the morning before" said Carly, her voice sounding a slightly more awake this time.
"You'll never guess who just called", Spencer said, a look in his eye like he just won the lottery.
Before she has a chance to say anything, Spencer blurts out " You remember the art gallery owner I created the Labradoodle sculpture for… well he liked it so much that he invited me to Vancouver to put together an exhibit of my work"
At that point, Carly didn't care anymore that she was tired. She knew that Spencer had been waiting for this day for a long time and now its finally here.
"When did he say to need to be in Vancouver by" Carly asked, given that Seattle was getting its first snow of the year and it was coming down pretty heavily.
"He wants to see me as soon as I can, so I am probably going to leave today" said Spencer, suddenly noticing a worried look in Carly's eyes.
"Whats wrong kiddo" he asks.
"Well… do you have to go right now, its snowing pretty bad outside and you know how fast the snow builds up on the streets around here before the city comes to plow them" , looking out the windows of the apartment towards the streets below. It had only been snowing for a couple of hours , but she was unable to tell the streets from the sidewalks.
"Don't worry, Ill be careful and take my time getting up there, so let me go get ready and then I am going to head out", he said, still with that overly excited look in his eyes.
With that, Carly hugged him good-bye and slowly started back to her room, only turning back when she heard the front door slam shut behind Spencer.
Well here is my first chapter… I am still trying to figure the direction of the overall story, but I think I have a good start here.
