What We Said Afterwards
Home is behind, the world ahead
Thirteen months we've now been away
Thirteen months spent in beds not of our own
Thirteen months we spent, together, and apart
Thirteen months we've now been away
And there are many paths to treadSo many choices we've made
Whether they were right or wrong we cannot tell
So many things that could have changed
Of the other paths we did not take, we cannot guess the outcome
Through shadowTogether and apart
We've faced battles and choices
Whether together or alone
We've played our parts
Through the Great Shadow and beyond
We are together, in mind, forever
To the edge of night
We faced the Shadow for thirteen months now, thirteen months of danger
All faced many perils; we had one burden, with the peril of the world around his neck
Facing possible death at nearly every turn, we could not give up
Until the stars are all alightDespite the darkness that creeps closer to those we love
There are always those that offer light and hope unlooked for, when it was needed most
Galadriel of the Elves, Gandalf- some call him the bearer of ill tidings, we say otherwise
Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Ranger of the North, the true King of Gondor, Isldur's heir,
And Frodo, the Ring bearer, bearer of all Middle Earth's hope
Hope was everywhere, all we needed was to think, to remember
Mist and shadow, cloud and shade
Without the hope
All would have perished, the Black Breath would rule
The Ring would join the Shadow
Daylight be extinguished for ever
Despair would never cease
All shall fade
Even now
The light leaves
But of their own accord,
Gandalf the White, Elrond, Galadriel and the others;
All that is fair is leaving, going where we
cannot follow,
and Frodo with them
All Shall Fade
Aragorn, now King Elessar, now rules,
Sauron, Sauruman, all that was evil is gone
The Fellowship lives on, but only in memory for most
Now we return to living our lives without fear,
But without
those we love,
those that held and
gave hope to all.
Author's Note: As much as I wish it were otherwise I do not own the lines in bold (beside's the title). JRR Tolkien/the guys who made the extended edtion dvds do.
