I know it's been months since I posted anything (stupid exams), so here's a short little piece I wrote the other day. I'm working on chapter 2 of Organised Confusion and I hope to have it posted by next week at the latest! :)

Maybe she would forgive him. Maybe he could redeem himself. Maybe they could just erase yesterday from their minds. His dark robes billowed behind him, blending in with the shadows of the dungeons. He would make things right, he decided as he reached an expanse of cold stone exactly the same as the rest. 'Supremacy,' he muttered, before walking through the opening where the wall had once been. Once he had settled himself into his dorm, locking the door with a spell of his own invention to prevent unwanted company, he began to work on the plan he had formed earlier that morning. Being one of the potion master's more esteemed students had its benefits, he thought to himself as he uncovered a small cauldron and various ingredients from under his bed.

"Strictly for emergencies," Slughorn had told him. His numerous chins had wobbled as he looked around anxiously, before thrusting the cauldron full of ingredients at him and hurrying away.

Now, he sat cross legged on his bed, staring intently at the shimmering blue potion before him. It was something he had experimented with many times, and after seven months of trial and error he had finally been successful. Allowing himself a rare grin, he carefully poured some of the sapphire coloured liquid into a small vial. When poured into a glass bowl, and after speaking a few words, the surface would turn as clear as crystal, and Lily would be able to view whoever she wished. He knew how much she had been missing her parents over the last few weeks, especially since her dad's heart problems had gotten worse, and he hoped the potion would reassure her that they were ok. Maybe it would be enough for her to forgive him. And maybe, just maybe, he could tell her how much he loved her.

The next morning, he dressed for the last day of school. Carefully stowing the little vial in his robes, he made his way to the Great Hall. Halfway there, he heard hushed, breathy voices coming from a nearby tapestry.

"No one can know about this James."

"Mhmm."

"I'm serious!"

"I know. Merlin Lily, you smell amazing."

"James! Focus! What was I saying?"

"Uhhhh..."

He froze on the spot, his heart thudding loudly in the sudden silence. A low moan came from behind the tapestry and he regained control of his body. Pain coursed through his body. It felt like he had been stabbed in the heart with thousands of tiny little knives. How could Lily betray him like this? Shaking, he took out the vial filled with blue liquid. As an overwhelming sense of hurt and anger took hold of him, he threw the vial at the floor with all of his strength. He watched as, almost in slow motion, the glass hit the floor and exploded, spraying the potion over the tapestry. Before the two could emerge from their hideaway and see him, Severus Snape walked away, leaving behind the shattered pieces of glass, and among them, the shattered pieces of his heart.

You guys have no idea how much a review would mean to me.
