Beach (an ode to Xandra)
Breathing in fresh
seawater
the sun when your face knows only
Water
Quirky footsteps in sand
Eventually though, they continue while their
Space is not filled
Next to you, the bohemian smile fades away
Gone and so is she
You will continue, thinking
Nothing of it, we love each other so
Nothing will happen
You will just remember
And let the smile be put on your face
From memories,
Cherry blossoms fallen from last spring.
Not until the winter do you realize
Do you find
That it wasn't her sun there
Because you were the sun
While she drowned in the water
Beneath the sunrise.
