She hung up the phone not holding on to a single word her father said. She was use to it bye now.
Whenever ever he said the words "I promise" she knew not to get her hopes up , cause it meant nothing to him ,They were just words. And they were just words now to her too.
Ever since her mom left she knew things were going to be different, but she was only 6six how different could they get?
But then daddy came home from work late and spent less and less time together.
And she knew her family was broken forever.
And so she pretended, and soon enough she couldn't figure out if it was really her or the fake her. But she liked pretending cause pretending would mean her father didnt blame her for her mother leaving, and pretending would mean guys didn't use her JUST for her body.
And she called that the land of summer where every thing was perfect, ever her.
Until she met fucking Seth Cohen. And he showed her how to be herself .And then the land of summer was no longer useful. And her life was finally perfect, but then chino had to go and be all heroic and leave making her one and only Seth Cohen to leeve as well. But she wasn't surprised because once her therapist told her that her father and mother caused her so much damage that she no longer had faith in people.
So when she read his note and it said the word" I love you I promise I do" she knew that he didn't, and never would cause I" I promise were only words. Ones that she didn't believe in.
