Harry walked down the street, his eyes filled with the November haze and his ears filled with wind rustling through the trees. Fall had certainly come with a vengeance and the leaves were living up to the season's name, making the ground a multi-colored patchwork of reds and yellows. He walked along, humming a tune under his breath; a slow rhythm that repeated the same chords again and again, as if they were seeking originality in their conformity.
Harry walked along, his hood pulled up over his head to obscure his face from the world, his cloak swirling amongst the leaves. The only spot of color was a path of red emblazoned across his chest, the seal of Gryffindor. It stood against the black background, holding its own against the surrounding darkness yet doomed to be overshadowed by the shadowy canvas that it stood against.
Harry walked along the well-traveled path, looking back over his life, his memories. The times when he was happy standing in stark contrast to the times when the world just got to be too much. He smiled though, at memories good and bad. For even if the past had won the day, he had survived, and that was cause enough for joy.
Harry turned at the sound of a voice; a girl emerged from the shadows and ran over to him with a smile on her face. His face broke into a grin at the sight of her; he swept her up in his arms and held her to him. Her hair spilled over his back as she was caught in his embrace, laughing at his greeting. The black of his back was momentarily obscured by her red hair and he was suddenly awash in color. A wry smile leapt from his lips as they were met by hers and he whispered, "Hey love."
A/N: Yeah, I got a girlfriend and I think that it kinda shows. She has red hair too. )
