Author's note: This is my take on Jenny and Nate and what could have happened if Jenny found the letter in Vanessa's purse before the Snowflake ball. For Nate and Jenny fans.

Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own Gossip Girl or this would have happened.

What if?

Chapter 1

She was waiting for Vanessa to come out from Dan's room so that she could see what parts of the dress that had to be fixed. She was set to go through with the plan. Jenny sat down on the bed next to Vanessa's purse and saw an envelope sticking out. She found it odd when she saw her last name on it and pulled it out. The return to sender surprised her. It was from Nate Archibald. For weeks she'd been thinking he didn't care about her and yet there was a letter from him. How long had Vanessa had it? She opened the envelope and read the date and then began to read the pages. Jenny couldn't believe that Vanessa had done this to her. Not only had she gone behind her back and lying about seeing Nate, but she was also so bent on punishing Jenny and keeping her from seeing Nate that she had taken a letter from him that was addressed to Jenny. Why would she do this?

"Jenny I think you have to shorten it a bit!" Vanessa called as she walked into Jenny's room and stopped when she saw that Jenny was holding an envelope and pages. "What's that?" She tried to act completely oblivious and yet she was cursing herself for having the letter in her purse. "I don't know, why don't you tell me why you have a letter addressed to me from Nate, and how long you've had it. And don't lie Vanessa cause this you can't get out. I found it in YOUR purse." Jenny got up from her seat and held the letter in her hand. "How could you? You knew he cared about me and you took the chance for me to find that out from me! You really hate me don't you?" Vanessa stayed quiet, she didn't know exactly what to answer to that. "I mean how could you?! 'I really care about you I don't want to be away from you'! You're despicable, get out of my dress! You aren't worthy of having it. In fact I never want to see you again." "Jenny…" "Get out!" Jenny pointed to the door and held the letter close to her. Vanessa sighed and did what she told her to do. She left.

Alone, Jenny sat down again and read the letter over and over to try and comprehend what it was saying. He had written so many pages about their friendship, what could've been a relationship. She sighed and got up. She put on her coat and grabbed her purse and while walking out of the loft she picked up her phone and scrolled down the contact list to Nate's name. She was just about to press the call-button when she realized what she'd just done. By not letting Vanessa wear a dress that Jenny had done she'd also made sure that Penelope and her friends wouldn't be able to humiliate Vanessa. It hit her so fast that she could hardly breathe, but she pressed the call-button and waited.
