Today I retrieved an egg from another one of our young trainers out in the world... I couldn't help but think of how much I missed out on growing up by not being able to go out on a pokemon journey like everyone else. I would dream from my hospital bed... With my studies it is hard to imagine ever having time for my own pokemon. I know they can hang in their pokeballs but would I really want to keep them cooped up, would they want to be cooped up for months on end while I study intensely? If I had a pokemon, I would always have it outside of it's pokeball, not just study it, but make true friends with my pokemon. I guess it is a dream-

Amina stopped writing in her journal and gazed longingly at the egg incubating on her desk "If only you were my pokemon..." she sighed.

"Amina how would you like to take this Pokemon?" Professor Oak said.

Amina froze. She didn't realize her inner most desires were being said aloud for all to hear. Especially not the great Professor Oak. Her heart felt as if it were going to beat out of her chest. "I-I really couldn't do that. I don't have the time. I have all this studying to do. Papers!"

"An aspiring pokemon behaviorist doesn't have the time for pokemon?"

"I guess it sounds bad when you say it like that. But between research, and papers, and eating, and only sometimes getting a good night's rest, I am tapped out."

"A researcher should be enjoying pokemon."

"I know but..."

"As a student, you are ahead of the curb, I really admire your enthusiasm. But without real world pokemon experience, you aren't going to make a good behaviorist on book learning and hanging around here day in and day out without ever having a pokemon of your own."

"Yes but-"

"What if I were to tell you, this is your homework? To raise this pokemon to the best of your abilities using the science you have been theorizing? What if you could go on a journey with this pokemon to challenge the gyms to test it in battle?" He placed his hand on the desk.

"I suppose..." She blushed. Amina had tears in her eyes. Her dreams of owning a pokemon on her terms were coming true.

"You have time to finish your current assignments before that egg hatches." Professor Oak smiled and left Amina's desk trailing two fingers.

Amina's pokemon journey was about to begin.
