What Took You So Long?
Disclaimer: I don't own One Tree Hill.
Note: If Lucas and Haley had a real first kiss it would happen like this.
Lucas and Haley sat on the bench at the River Court. They had hung out all day, which was rare now that he was on the basketball team. It was a great day they walked around the mall had some pizza, and stayed at the River Court for the rest of the day. It was now dark outside. The only light they could see was the light coming from the moonlight and court lamps. Lucas had left the CD player on in the car; the Lucas Mix is what he called it. Haley liked the Lucas Mix it had a little of everything.
"I'm glade we're hanging out again, I miss you Lucas." She said looking into his eyes, but quickly looked in another direction. Lucas had been her best friend since the third grade, she tells him everything. Except the fact that she has been in love with them him since seventh grade. She thought it would be weird if she just came out of nowhere and said I love you.
"I miss you to Haley, it's just been a little hectic lately." Lucas said with a smile and placing his hand over hers. Lucas loved playing on the team. Now that he was starting to get respect from his team, although he hated the fact that he doesn't get to see Haley as often as he wants to. They were best friends but lately he felt like they were strangers in the school halls. They would only see each other when they were going to there next class, a simple hi and bye. He was happy to finally get some alone time with her so they could catch up. He missed her smile her laugh her he missed her period. The fact was he had feelings for her to, but like Haley it would be weird to just come out and say I love you. Lucas got of the bench and walked to the back of the car and popped the trunk.
"What are you doing?" Haley asked standing up and following him to the car. Lucas pulled out his basketball and smiled.
"You been working on you shooting?" he asked passing her the ball still with that little smirk on his face. Haley shot the ball with ease. The ball fell through the net.
"Actually I have."
"Not bad at all, but can you make it from side court?" Lucas said handing her the ball.
"What do I get if I make it?" Haley asked. In her mind she wanted him to say "if you make it you get a kiss."
"If you make it I'll tell you a secret." Lucas answered raising one of his eyebrows.
"A secret huh? Ok." She bounced the ball a few times and then shot the ball. It came up to short and hit the rim of the hoop.
"That sucked." Haley said with a smile on her face, trying to hide the her disappointment.
"Yeah that did suck, but I'm going to tell you anyway." Haley walked to him to receive her prize that she didn't win. Lucas pulled her close and whispered in her ear "I'm in love with you Haley James." She pulled away in shock. He said it again this time looking into her eyes.
"I love you Haley." Haley smiled and wrapped her arms around him.
"What took you so long to tell me?"
"I didn't know if you would feel the same way." She smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"The way I feel is the same way, I love you to Lucas." They stood in the center of the court and kissed each other passionately.
THE ENDWell tell me what you think.
