Ty felt responsible. He knew he shouldn't, but he did. Amy, his fiancé, was in the hospital. She had been knocked in the head by, Zeus, Ahmed's, horse.
"Ty?" Georgie asked. He was going to the hospital to visit Amy. He picked up an a shirt and threw it in a bag. Ty seemed to realize Georgie standing at the door for the first time.
"Yeah?"
"Are you okay?" she asked softly.
Am I? No. I'm not OK. Amy's in the hospital. He was scared. If Amy didn't wake up... No. He didn't want to think like that. "I'm fine, Georgie." He opened the door to the trailer. "Don't you need to get home?"
"Ty, are you sure you're OK?"
He was getting upset. He didn't want to talk. He didn't want to talk to anyone, only Amy. "Georgie, go."
With Georgie gone, Ty left for the hospital. He hadn't had anything to eat but, he didn't care. He went up to her room and sat by her bedside, just like he'd done every day since the accident, three days before.
"Ty?" He looked behind him, seeing Lou, he turned his attention to Amy. "Ty, are you OK? You haven't been to Heartland ever since it happened."
"I'm fine. I..." He decided to tell her. To get it off his chest. "I just can't help it. Should I feel this guilt?"
"Ty," Lou said sitting next to him. "It's natural to feel like this. It is. But when it becomes a problem is when you keep it bottled up inside you."
"I don't know...I feel like I should've done something-" He was interrupted by Lou.
"Ty, look, these things happen, you can't blame yourself. You can't go back, no matter how much you want to, you just can't..." Lou said her voice breaking. "I know that's true because when my mom died, it hurt, I wished every single day that I could go back and change things. That I could've visited Heartland more often. I could've called... I could've done something."
"Thank you, Lou, for telling me that."
"You're welcome. You need to come to Heartland. We miss you."
Ty nodded. "Yeah, I will. I will." Ty didn't want to go, but he knew that he wasn't the only one hurting. He needed to stop being so selfish.
"I'm leaving. I'll see you later, Ty. Bye, Amy." Lou said kissing her sister on the forehead.
Alone in the hospital, Ty thought about what Lou had said. She's right. I am being selfish, only thinking about myself. He looked at his fiance, "I miss you, Amy. I really do. You'll be out of here in no time. I promise." Ty whispered. "I love you so much."
Tomorrow. Tomorrow, I'll visit Heartland. Maybe I could stop by tonight, just for a few minutes.
Hope you guys enjoyed my one-shot! Please tell me what you thought of it and tell me what I could do better. If you have any suggestions of what I could write, please tell me.
