Put Away

Once upon a time, there was a bunny doll named Usa-chan.

He was sewed with love and affection and given to a child, where he was played with and loved.

Usa-chan was always in the arms of the child. For many years, Usa-chan became the child's constant companion, loved and hugged. Never was he out from his security.

Usa-chan was always the receiver of the boy's love.

He was never ignored, and if he was lost, he knew this child would find him immediately.

This child had always loved him, and would never let go.

For Usa-chan…

Love and happiness seemed like it would stay for a lifetime.

But once upon a time, this child grew up.

He began to play less and less with Usa-chan. He started to leave Usa-chan in his room, locked and cooped up for hours until he came home.

He started to forget to talk to Usa-chan every night…until Usa-chan was completely forgotten.

His pink cloth skin became dirty; his ears became tattered; seams started to become loose.

Usa-chan laid underneath his bed, tattered, ripped, dusty..and forgotten.

And it came to the time when someone related to the child walked into the room, grabbed Usa-chan's arm, and pulled him into a cardboard box filled with old toys and wallpapers of bunnies.

He was locked into a closet, sitting in the midst of old things; he fell deep into oblivion…

With expecting beads for eyes, he waited.

With that sewn smile, he waited.

As months and years crawled past his time, Usa-chan realized…with a single tear falling from his beaded eye...

That he was no longer loved.
