Chapter 5 Guilty Or Not Guilty

It has been a week since Sam had been arrested for Stuart's murder.

Phil and Jack have been working very hard preparing their reports for court.

"Phil are you alright", asked Jack in a concerned voice.

"I am Gov but I am just worried about Sam when I saw her yesterday she looked so frail I love her so much", replied Phil and a tear ran down his cheek.

"Sam needs you to be strong especially today now finish your report then we go and see Sam", said Jack.

Meanwhile Sam was busy talking to her lawyer.

"So what do you reckon my chances are", asked Sam nervously.

Very good because a woman is willing to explain her situations with Stuart Turner", replied her lawyer.

Sam suddenly looked more alive then she had ever been since her arrest.

"Will this witness appear in court today", asked Sam more cheerfully.

"Yes and she quoted that she would love nothing more than to help you", replied her lawyer.

Sam had no idea who this person could be.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Sam you have visitors", said the woman officer.

Sam left the room and made her way to visitor area.

When she saw Phil she flung her arms around him and gave him a kiss.

"Well you look happier than yesterday darling", said Phil happily.

" I have just had the best news", replied Sam and she could not stop smiling.

"What news is this Sam", asked Jack as he was walking in with 3 cups of coffee.

Sam told them what her lawyer had said.

"That is great Sam", said Jack.

"Thanks Gov now I just have to get through today", replied Sam.

" You will be fine sweetheart me and Jack will be there', said Phil.

Sam looked into Phil's eyes she noticed how tired he looked.

A few hours later they were in court.

Sam stood nervously in the dock.

"Are you Miss Samantha Nixon of 21 Pathway Lane London", asked a court member.

"Yes I am", replied Sam.

A few minutes later the woman who was so willing to help Sam took the stand.

"What is your name", asked the court member

"D.I. Jenny Harper", she replied.

After a few more questions she told the court that Stuart worked at Barton Street as a DS and that he messed up a case for a fellow officer and she managed to get a confession out of him and he was suspended. She then went on to say that he wanted to get revenge so he came around my flat and when my partner went out he forced his way in and tried to attack me.

After a few more minutes Phil and Jack read out their statements.

Then the jury went out.

One hour later

"Will the foreman of the jury please stand", asked the judge.

The foreman rose to his feet.

"Have you reached a verdict that you have all agreed", asked the judge.

"Yes my lord", replied the foreman.

"Do you find the defendant Samantha Nixon guilty or not guilty of the murder of Stuart Turner.

"We find the defendant Samantha Nixon…..
