you know that I could use somebody

"I have to go to her." Mark was holding Sofia in his arms with her baby bag slung over his shoulder. Any other time he would not hesitate in taking his daughter with him but Callie and Arizona would be back in the morning and both of them were expecting her to be there waiting.

Lexie tilted her head to the side, giving him one of her understanding half smiles. She knew how it would all play out, but it didn't matter anymore because they were friends and friends were always there for each other. Holding out her arms she took baby Sofia before moving so that Mark could set her bag down inside the doorway.

"Just go to her, Mark."

His hesitation lasted only a moment and then he was kissing both Lexie and his daughter on the cheek before he took off down the steps of Meredith's house and disappeared into the darkness.

He didn't even say hello before shoving the other man up against the wall as hard as he could. Somewhere in the background Mark heard Pete yelling at him followed by heavy footsteps from different directions. Someone, most likely Pete or Cooper (or both) was trying to pull him off of Sam but it was not going to happen.

Between the calls he had received from Amelia and Addison the previous night he knew that this was what he had to do. He would break every single bone in Sam Bennett's body before he allowed the other man to lay a finger on his Addison again.

"Mark- what the hell man?" Pete's voice was close to his ear as he kept tugging on the plastic surgeon's body, but the other man's anger was giving him the edge to keep hanging on. Cooper was standing in the background with Charlotte's hand on his arm, unwilling to interfere when he had a vague idea of why Addison's ex was here in the first place.

"He fucking broke her," Mark growled out in a voice so quiet that no one should have heard him, but his words seemed to echo within the office building. Pete instantly stopped pulling, looking from Mark to Sam and then back to Mark again. As much as he wanted to defend his friend something in Sam's face kept him from saying anything at all.

The sound of rushing footsteps filled the hallway again and the plastic surgeon knew that his chance was now or never. With anger powering his every move, Mark reared back his fist and punched his former friend in the face as hard as he could. The sound of bone crunching was loud and he wasn't sure if it was his hand or Sam's face that was fucked up, but he didn't really care. He pulled his arm back again, his hand protesting as he curled his fingers into another fist, ready and more than willing to deliver a second blow. A familiar hand gripping his arm tightly forced him to stop mid swing and Mark glanced over, his eyes meeting Addison's for the first time since she had left after helping to deliver Sofia.

"He's not worth it, Mark."

She was quiet. She wasn't the same fierce Addison that he had known throughout his adult life. It was like the fire in her eyes had been snuffed out and he was pretty sure that he knew who to blame for that. Everyone was watching them as they stood there with her hand on his arm and their eyes locked. Finally, he lowered his arm and stepped back, but only after giving Sam another rough shove into the wall.

Addison's hand never left Mark's arm as he turned to look at Dr. Bennett. His eyes were as cold as his words.

"If you even look at her funny I'll break your damn neck, you hear me Bennett? Addison's not your fucking toy anymore."

A/N: Short, sweet, and at the end. This is the first GA fic that I have written in awhile. I totally support McSexie/Slexie/whatever you want to call them, but I enjoy some Maddison so I wrote this for the wonderful Rachael after making a video for another wonderful person. This will have a part two with more Maddison in it I do think.
