Sisterhood: New Beginnings
It's a popular saying that history is doomed to repeat itself to those who fail in understanding it: It's an idea that's built upon in countless romance novels, it's emphasized (most likely by a wizened old man) in adventure flicks and it's sometimes used in a completely irrelevant context by those who attempt to answer the unanswerable.
I believe that history is a living entity, a thing - a book, perhaps - that repeats certain aspects, beautiful, beautiful aspects of itself because it can't bear to part with the idea. History repeats something to relive the magic of the original.
It's odd, but it's the only plausible answer for our close bonds.
Though, if it's the only answer to our close bonds, then I'll have to add that although history repeats something, maybe it edits parts too? Like watching a remake of a movie: It's not the same as the original - it can't be, because if it is, it'll have to be constantly compared to the splendor of the preceding story, but if it's own thing with different people and different ideas integrated into the original storyline, then it's not a disappointment. If it's alike but different, it retains its identity (yet that still doesn't excuse it from bad sometimes).
The original sisterhood was far, far different then ours. The original had (crossed-out words) the artist, the actor, the jock, and the movie-maker (end crossed-out words) a beautiful artist, a fearless jock, an actor who had a-ways to go before she realized she was an actor, and a movie-maker who had to struggle to keep what she had (after she foolishly threw it away).
Then, the original sisterhood grew older. The beautiful artist reunited with her true love and had twins who were four years too old to be a part of the new sisterhood. It was the artist's sister who filled the void in the second sisterhood when she brought Chloe into the world. The fearless jock flew around the world before settling down with her first love in the wake of their daughter, Faith's birth. The actor spent years as the lead in low-budget films for her friend, the movie-maker, before she gained her piece of heaven, her Nevaeh, after the loss of her husband. The movie-maker never quite slowed down completely from her time-consuming career, but she did enough to start a family, and give birth to Kate.
We are the new sisterhood, and as history demands, we truly begin upon the arrival of one turbulent summer. A summer where raw wounds are torn open and sown back together. A summer where a heart can be bursting at the seams with happiness. A summer of broken hearts, of self-discovery, of hope, of joy.
A summer where we each learn to stand on our own two feet.
