"What do you expect, a miracle?" Hikaru's glare stabbed unrelentingly at Kaoru. "You know for certain that we won't be together forever, after all."

The younger Hitachiin twin fidgeted uncomfortably. Mumbling something incoherent, he stole a glance at his brother.

"Look, if you don't want to be here, then you can leave, but that isn't going to solve anything." The elder brother crossed his arms, leaning back against the couch. "Besides, weren't you the one that brought this up in the first place? If you're --"

"I never said that I wanted to leave," the other snapped, finally meeting his brother's gaze. "Yes. Yes, I do expect a miracle. Don't you? I mean, 16-something years and still no one can tell us apart. Along comes Haruhi -- a girl, no less -- and bam! It's like a bloody miracle."

Hikaru waited patiently, watching as his brother took a deep breath to steady himself.

"I'm just…scared," he whispered, tearing away from his brother's aurelian eyes.

"About what?" the elder twin questioned, standing up and cocking his head to the side as he ruffled the younger's auburn hair.

"I'm scared that…we'll change," he replied uncertainly. Pushing Hikaru's hand away, he took a step back, looking off to the side. "It's okay when we're together…but when we're apart…we'll change differently." He frowned, unsure of his own words.

Hikaru smirked devilishly. "So this isn't about Haruhi after all," he teased, watching Kaoru's face blanch, then darken to various shades of red.

"O-Of course it's about Haruhi!" He stomped his foot resolutely, and turned so that his back was facing his brother. "Like I said, we'll grow apart eventually. Part of that is because we'll both be getting girlfriends, and I just think --"

"That one of us will go out with Haruhi?" Hikaru finished. Taking a step forward, he wrapped his arms around Kaoru's shoulders.

"H-Hikaru! Let me go!" Kaoru stuttered, attempting to squirm from his brother's hold.

"Stop moving, little brother. How am I supposed to get into the mood if all you're doing is trying to push me away?" One of his hands slithered down Kaoru's stomach. "Don't worry about it, Kao-chan. You're all that I'll ever want," he whispered, his breath nipping at his younger brother's ear.

"Stop kidding around, Hikaru…"

"But you've already surrendered yourself to me," he murmured, kissing down Kaoru's neck.

The younger twin sighed. "Hikaru?"

"Hm?" he almost grunted, too distracted with kissing Kaoru to give a proper response.

"I'm not gay."

Hikaru paused for a moment. "If it makes you feel better to believe that, go right ahead."

A/N: What do you think? I've once again conquered the dastardly writer's block. ;) I'm actually amazed I finished this before the deadline.

I'm working on a second version (because, while I was writing, I tried switching the two prompts around...and it led me in a completely different direction), if anyone is interested.

Reviews are appreciated, as is constructive criticism. (I only got it beta-ed once! XD)
