The Fever
(Opening Song: It's For You by Niamh Kavanagh)
It was quite midnight. Nobody on the street and every house darkened as if there was a lifeless town. The sun needed about four hours to move up and throw its orange glow onto the horizon. People were sunk on dreams by themselves; the terrible and pleasant dreams were come along with them. But, at the end of the street there had one house that appeared a light from a room.
A man sat on a seat and his hands was busy budging. Next to him, a poor girl—seemed younger about five years—laid on a bed. Her forehead was covered by wet cloth. It had been done for four times at this midnight. It was just he could do for his sister that didn't want to go to the doctor.
"I don't need your help," the girl—named Malaysia—mumbled as her hand took the wet cloth off and threw it until fell down on the floor. In pathetic condition, her roughness figure still didn't vanish.
The man whose name was Indonesia fetched then soaked it into a pail of cold water. "Naughty girl." He wrung the cloth and put it onto her forehead. "You must call me 'brother' and don't be headstrong. Your fever isn't healing up yet."
"I don't want to follow your orders. I'll heal up soon without your hands, Stupid Brother!"
Each words that she said always cold and sometimes sarcastic. Everybody assumed that Malaysia was a sweet girl. Their assumed had no wrong anyway. She never did an embarrassing thing in front of anybody. How satisfied she was. But, Indonesia was excepting by her. The rough, harsh, stern, strict, or whatever the words were, that ever did against him, he quite cherished about her.
"Yeah, up to you. Better if you continue your dream," he responded as like she didn't say anything. His eyes felt heavy, but unable to shut the eyes before she had slept well.
Seeing that, a feeling of guilty came around her. Since she was feverish, he had been wakeful. There had a black circle on his eyelids and unfocused sight. By turning her head opposite him, she said, "Although my dreams were rarely nice, I'll sleep. You must sleep too. I don't want if you get sick as well."
He was bemused to hear that. Even he didn't believe that she was worried about him. "Pardon me?"
"No repeating, you idiot!" She eventually pulled her blanket till her head lock up. The heat was increasing because the embarrassing.
He smiled gently at her although he knew that she could not see the smile. "Good night…."
For several minutes later, he had fallen onto the dream and all of minds couldn't bother him again. She undid the blanket from her head. On edge of the bed, he had slept peacefully.
"Good night, Brother. Have a nice dream," she whispered sweetly and began to shut her bright-hazel eyes as well. "And thanks…."
She had been conscious that she just wanted to wrap her true feeling, for being rude against him. That was done to disappear it because their belief must not have a love affair between siblings. Her tears unconsciously flew down at the silent midnight.
