"I think I saw you in my sleep," Obito spoke softly to the roses lain on the ground, "Darling."

Obito traced absent minded figures into the dirt, "I think I saw you in my dreams; you were stitching up the seams on every broken promise that your body couldn't keep."

Obito cast his head downwards and clawed his nails through soil, and with every syllable his voice became more hoarse, "I think I saw you in my sleep."

He rose and sharply walked the short distance back into Madara's cavern, turned, and entered his room. Everything was a blur around him, and only began clearing once he reached his destination. Amongst his meager belongings, Obito's gaze lingered on a Konoha headband lay on his desk. "I think I saw you confronting my fear, it went up with the bottle and went down with the beer."

Obito clenched his eyes shut, "I think you ought to stay away from here; there are ghosts in the walls and they crawl in your head through your ear."

Obito dropped onto his bed and curled into himself, "I think I saw you in my sleep, lover,"

He tightened his arms around his body and whispered, "I think I saw you in my dreams; you were stitching up the seams on every mangled promise that your body couldn't keep."

Obito's arms dropped from around his own torso. "I think I saw you in my sleep."

Moments passed and he began to search his sheets. Searching and finally caressing a person that wasn't there, Obito hummed: "I know that someday you'll be sleeping, darling, likely dreaming off the pain."

A sad smile crossed his face and he continued embracing the blankets, "I hope you hear me in the street lights humming," Obito's eyes closed in contempt, "Softly breathing out your name."

He nuzzled his face closer into his sheets, took a deep breath and paused. He stopped stroking his blanket and dropped his smile. "I know that even with the seams stitched tightly, Darling, scars will remain."

Obito furrowed his brows and his voice took a different- a less pitiful- tone, "I say we scrape them from each other, darling, and let them wash off in the rain. When then run into the river, let the water not complain."

Obito opened his eyes, and saw a person no one else could see, "I swear that even with the distance slowly wearing out your name," Obito paused to search for the right words to say, "Your hands still catch the light the right way,"

Obito brought his hand to his chest and clenched his skin through his shirt, "And our hearts still beat the same."

"And our hearts still beat the same."
