AN: Hey! So, I loved the episode "Veritas" so much. The ending was just so amazing. I think it was an almost perfect way to end the episode. I think there should have been a scene at the end about Beckett and her father, so I decided to write my ending. It's not my best work because I wrote it in under twenty minutes, but I really wanted to put this up. It is just a really short oneshot with Beckett and her dad. I hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Castle or any of the characters.
Jim Beckett walked home after a long day of work. He fumbled with putting his keys in the lock and dropped them.
"Damn keys," He muttered as he bent down to pick them up.
After he got inside, he dropped his keys on the hall table and saw that he had one voicemail on his home phone. He pressed the button to play the message.
"Hi, dad. It's me."
He smiled when he heard his daughter's voice.
"I tried calling your cell phone, but I guess you turned it off, or maybe it died while you were at work."
Jim pulled his phone out of his pocket to find out that it did, in fact, die while he was at work. He went over to the wall outlet to plug in his phone.
"Anyways, I just really have to tell you something. I want to tell you myself before you see it on the news. Just… just call me when you get this."
He picked up the phone and dialed Kate's cell.
Jim pushed open the door to the diner where he and his daughter frequented. He spotted her sitting at a booth against the wall.
"Hi Katie," he said as walked towards the booth. "Sorry I didn't answer my cell. I forgot to charge it this morn-"
He trailed off when he saw her face.
"What is it?" He asked. "Why are you smiling like that?"
Kate looked at him with a sparkle in her eyes.
"I did it, Daddy," She said. "I did it."
He sat down across from her.
"What did you do?" He asked, slightly confused.
"I got him. I did it."
