Cry

The day was warm. Not too hot and not too cold. A slight wind caressed the soft skin of a woman. She stood atop a cliff and looked down at the stony shore. She saw the ocean's waves beat across the stone wall, tempting it to fall.

Her gown blew about her like an ebony cloud. Her hair, which use to be pinned in a tight bun, blew across her face. Her once bright chocolate eyes were dull, clear of the former tears.

She refused to cry again.

The wind died down and her gown rested reviling her rounded abdomen. Her hands caressed her bulge. She begged the tear not to fall. She had cried enough.

She blamed the sea salt, it got into her eye. Her heart wouldn't betray her again. She was tired and warn out. The day was long and the time late. She felt as though all she wore now was ebony. The color made her look pale and her chestnut hair, dull. How he wore it everyday, she would never know.

He's been gone a week now. So far ago that was. Her heart ached for him. She longed to have his arms hold her once more. Another tear fell.

"Foolish heart," she whispered as the ind picked up again, "Why must you mock me?" Her hands held her stomach protectively. "Too soon you will come and join the living."

She looked to her hands and another tear fell, landing on her pale hand. "The living." she sighed. "So many gone now. Who will welcome you, little one? Who will be there for you when I can not?" Her gaze drifted towards the ocean and out at the setting sun. The sky turned many shades of oranges, reds, pinks, and golds. "He loved the color gold." she mused. "So unlike I remembered."

She turned away from the ocean, keeping the sun on her back. She had been doing that a lot, turning her back. Another one was gone in less than two weeks and she blamed herself. So many lives could have been saved if she was smart enough. His life could have been saved. She pulled her shall closer around her.

"Where are you?" she pleaded. "You were suppose to help me, stay with me."

She couldn't bring her mind to yell at him and her heart couldn't hate him.

She want to lash out at someone, anyone. She felt so alone.

He was gone and was never coming back. Once again the tears fell and her heart broke a little more. She never knew if she would laugh again and feared she forever cry. She held her stomach again.

"You will have his name, little one." she whispered. "Severus Snape.
