A/n: This is a Portal Secret Santa gift for Soupengine. Happy holidays and have a happy New Year! 3
To Soupengine: I hope that this ficlet makes you happy and have warm fuzzies. :3 Your Wheatley is really really adorable and I tried my best to get some of his cuteness in the fic, as well as a sweet dynamic with Chell. Enjoy?
I don't own Portal, Chell, or Wheatley.
It was cold, incredibly cold, and Wheatley couldn't handle the chill all too well. He shivered, nose running and expression grim. Had it not been for the warm woman next to him, the curly haired man would have curled up into a tight ball in a well heated room. Instead, he and Chell were huddled close together facing an outdoor fireplace that blazed with brilliant hues of orange and red. Bits of yellow flecks danced about the flames before being engulfed in the frigid black above the lights grasp and dimming into nothingness.
The breeze picked up, blowing snowflakes into Wheatley's hair, speckling it with bits of icy wetness. It drooped a bit, causing Chell to laugh. He pulled a face, but brought her closer to himself, smiling and nuzzling her check affectionately.
"Awfully chilly, innit?" Wheatley mused.
Chell simply nodded, her cheek pressed to his chest and eyes drooping as her mind was enchanted by the stark contrast of the fire to the dark.
"I suppose that staying like this will keep us warm enough?" He raised an eyebrow.
Chell nodded again, humming an affirmative. Her breath caused Wheatley's tremendously large and round glasses to fog up. They both laughed.
"Then that's all that matters," Wheatley mumbled. His face colored pink when Chell's fingers reached up to clear the condensation before stroking his cheek with a timid touch.
Tightening the blanket, the woman mumbled, "Just you and I," before both settled again to watch the flames dance into the night sky in a comfortable silence.
