Truth Potion

Chapter One:

Ever since the War ended, he's had that broken glint in his eyes, as though he had lost everything and everyone he loved, and in a way, I suppose he did. His friends are to blinded by their own love and grief to see the pain in his eyes, his now dull and lifeless emerald eyes.

I suppose you could say I have grown rather fond of our Boy-Wonder since he saved my mother and myself, but I keep my distance, choosing instead to be a silent observer.

Like now, he was across the library, seated with Hermione and Ron, looking forlornly down at his notes.

"Draco? Hey, Draco, come on man, we're supposed to be studying." I blinked, looking over at my own companions, Blaise and Pansy were both looking at me, small smiles curved on their lips.

"Sorry, I was just thinking." I sighed, rubbing the back of my head.

Pansy sighed, shaking her head slightly. "Look Draco, we know you're concerned, but honestly, you've got to say something to the poor sod, you know, instead of just staring at him like a lost puppy." Blaise let out a small laugh before nodding in agreement.

"I can't." They both sighed, we've had this conversation before, and it always ends the same, I just can't talk to Potter, not until I can figure out how to fix him.

"Alright, let's get back to studying then? Veritaserum is a very complicated potion, even for you." I chuckled, nodding at the truth in the statement.

Harry's P.O.V.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair as I looked around the room, feeling someones eyes on me. The only other people in the library were a group of Ravenclaws a few tables away, and Malfoy, Parkinson, and Zabini.

Recently I had begun to notice small things about Malfoy, like how he's become more reserved. He only seemed to hang around Zabini and Parkinson now-a-days. I've also noticed him watching me when he thinks I am not looking. He'd started to change after the trials I think.

This 'new' Malfoy intrigued me, but I was going to wait for him to make the first move.

"Harry? Are you alright mate, you're staring at Malfoy again." I blinked, looking over at my friends. I didn't think they would notice.

"Uh, yeah, I'm fine." Hermione raised a brow at me, and I shrugged, glancing down at my notes. "Man, why is this potion so complicated?"

"Harry, if it was simple everyone would be using it." Hermione chuckled, and I smiled, I missed moments like this, it reminded me of the old days, where all three of us just hung out 'studying'.

"I suppose you're right." I sighed as they Hermione started fussing over Ron again.

Rubbing the back of my head, I tried to memorize the ingredients for Veritaserum.

Hey, I hope you guys like this better than the original, it's still fairly short, but it's supposed to be.
