Here's a little Camille backstory, since the writers won't give us much. I was intrigued by the idea of her parents abandoning her when she was 16, so I thought I'd write about it.

Linus approached Camille a few days after the stitch into Cameron. They had patched up their relationship a bit, and Linus needed to talk about something that was bugging him.

"Camille, can I ask you about something?"

"Sure… This sounds serious."

"Yeah, well… Remember when we had the Spanish Flu, and we were all calling our loved ones?"

"Yeah."

"You said you didn't have anyone to call."

"Yup."

"And you said your parents abandoned you when you were 16."

"Yes, I did." She seemed remarkably calm.

"I guess… If you're okay with it-I thought maybe we could talk more about that."

"Uh.. what do you want to know?"

"Well, why did your parents abandon you? I mean normally that kind of thing happens when you're little…"

"My parents weren't great people to start out with. They drank a lot; used a lot; fought a lot… hit me sometimes. In highschool I started fighting back; trying to protect myself. I had read Matilda. I wanted to be the girl who got out of her situation. One night, I threatened to report them to the cops. They had been using and drinking, and they kicked me out of the apartment. They had done it before. I thought it was just for the night. When I got back the next night, they were gone."

"I'm sorry."

"I'm not. It gave me the chance to reinvent myself; realize that I was smart and capable, not dumb like they told me I was."

"Where did you go? Who did you stay with?"

"I was on the streets for a while, then moved in with a teacher who was my guardian until I turned eighteen."

"Your own personal-"

"Miss Honey," both said at the same time.

"Yeah," Camille continued. "She was pretty cool."

"Well, do you keep in contact with her?"

"She died in a shooting my freshman year of college. She left me everything she had, which got me through my undergrad."

"I'm so sorry, Camille."

"It's fine. I'm fine. Do I look upset?"

"No. But no one should have to be alone in this world."

"I'm not alone anymore," she said, meaningfully.
