A/N: I've never written a drabble before. That is, anything under 500 words, but that's what this is. I wrote it for the final round of FOX_LAS on live journal and no, I didn't win the round. I was against some pretty stiff competition and I wasn't expecting to win with this entry. I basically went down in flames with 6 votes against it. Anyway, I'm posting it because it's late, I'm bored and I'm starting a new House fic. So you could say the purpose of this is to cleanse the palate hehehe. Of course, after you read this, you might not think so.

Disclaimer: I don't own House or any of the characters. There. I said it. Don't sue me.

A Legend in His Own Mind

Allison Cameron had no idea what she was in for when she submitted her resume to Dr. House in hopes of becoming one of his fellows for a three-year program. It would look fantastic on her resume. After all that was rumoured about him, how bad could he actually be?

To most people in the field of medicine, Gregory House was a legend. It wasn't enough that he was brilliant. It was rumoured that his Intelligence Quotient was off the charts. Anybody who went to Johns Hopkins or Michigan State knew about the infamous Gregory House and his blunt way of dealing with things. His reputation was world renowned, yet his bedside manner left little to be desired.

Gregory House was a jerk. Plain and simple. Some wondered how he was even able to practice medicine at all. He was rude, lewd and completely fearless when it came to treating his patients. He might have known the answers, but his methods for acquiring them were borderline insane.

"And I consented to work for this man?"she often thought when she found herself breaking into a patient's home, looking for clues as to what would be the underlying cause of an illness.

Still, the man was worth the trouble. He was right ninety-nine percent of the time and his thirst for knowledge was amazing. He knew the most mundane tidbits of information which most people wouldn't even care to know. He said things to patient's faces that most doctors would wait to say when the patient was out of the room. He didn't care about anything except finding the right diagnosis and treating the patient. That's what made him so effective as a doctor. It was why people sought him to help them when every other doctor had given up.

When she'd got the call to come in and interview with the Legendary Greg House, she knew he must have seen something in her resume to make him want to see her. When they met for the first time, the interview was short and sweet, conducted mostly by his partner in crime, Dr. James Wilson. Dr. House simply sat and stared at her like she was a specimen under a microscope.

At the end of her fellowship, she felt like she'd learned more in the three years of working under Dr. House than all her years in med school. Having that on her resume would be like having a perfect credit score. She'd be invincible. After all, if she could handle working under the legendary Gregory House, she could handle anything.

The End.
