Someone Like You

Santana arrived at Brittany's house on a cool spring evening, her heart fluttering with excitement and adoration. Tonight was the night. She was taking Brittany on their first real date together. Prom.

A few days after Santana confessed to Brittany about her emotions that fateful day in the hall, Brittany realized how wrong she had been. It was never Artie, always Santana. Her beautiful best friend. The one who took care of her wherever they went; the one who has been to every dance recital the blonde could remember; the one that always gave her the last bite of ice cream from their shared sundaes in the summer time. It has always been her.

It was after a glee rehearsal when it happened. Santana was in the parking lot unlocking her car door when the blonde made her presence known.

"Santana.." Brittany began. Santana looked up, slightly startled. She hasn't spoken to Brittany in a few days.

"Hey Brit."

"I broke up with Artie." Brittany whispered, making eye contact with the brunette.

Santana stood frozen. "Why?" She managed out.

Brittany took a step closer. "Because I realized something." She gazed into Santana's eyes, and took Santana's hands into her own.

Santana looked at their interlocked fingers. "And what was that?"

"He isn't you."

Suddenly Santana felt lips pressing softly against her own. The kiss was slow and gentle. It was familiar, but at the same time, felt incredibly different. The kiss had emotions behind it on a whole new level. They pulled back catching their breathe, foreheads leaning together.

"Be my girlfriend?" Brittany breathed.

Santana smiled. She had been waiting a long time for this. She wrapped her arms around the blonde's neck, pulling her even closer. "Only if you'll be mine." She kissed Brittany again, both smiling.

Santana and Brittany stepped out of their limo, having arrived at their destination. Each girl had on a gorgeous flowing gown; Santana in a deep wine, and Brittany in a shimmering midnight blue. Santana held her arm out. "Ready, B?"

Brittany linked their arms together and smiled. "Of course." Together, they walked into the banquet hall.

Music was playing loudly, the dance floor filled with moving bodies. Navigating their way around the large room, they found their table, seeing a few other glee members already there.

Puck saw them first, and walked over to greet them. "Hello ladies. Going stag this evening?"

Brittany spoke up for them. "No, I'm here with my girlfriend." She gave Santana a chaste kiss, and Santana gave a look daring anyone to defy them. There were a few looks of surprise, but most of the table smiled knowingly.

A fast beat began to play. "Let's dance San!" Brittany pulled Santana by the arm to the dance floor, laughing.

"All I can say is about time." Quinn softly said, smiling.

Rachel nodded in agreement. "They are so lovely together. They are meant to be. I mean, look at them!" She pointed to the happy couple, dancing together with wide smiles. The table murmured in agreement, watching the girls dance.

The pair have been dancing for a few songs when the lights dimmed and a slow beat sounded through the hall. Santana gazed at Brittany and held her hand out, allowing the blonde to lead them to the center of the dance floor. She wrapped her arms around Santana's waist, with Santana's around her neck. They began to gracefully twirl together under the shimmering lights above.

"I'm so happy right now San." Brittany murmured.

"Me too Brit. Everything feels perfect. No one can tear us apart. No one in this school can do anything that will take me away from you." Santana leaned her forehead against Brittany's. "I love you too much to let you go."

Brittany stared lovingly into Santana's deep eyes. "I love you so much too. I'll be with you together." She gave Santana a light kiss as they continued to twirl. "Proudly so."
