We were standing at the bottom of the Hill at the entrance to camp Half-Blood surrounded by monsters - all three Furies, Minotaur, Manticore, the lot. The only thing that stopped them from attacking was the sight of Aegis, my shield. With the head of a gorgon it was enough to stop anyone from attacking for a while.
I tightened my grip on my spear and glanced at my companions. Grover was trembling and started to eat his shirt, satyrs I thought. Luke had his sword in his hand and Annabeth's hand in the other, muttering reassuring words. Annabeth gripped her knife worriedly and kept glancing at Luke and I, unsure what to do. I frowned, as a plan formed in my head it's risky but if it works… well, we live and if it doesn't we don't. Not very optimistic, I know, but that's what happens in the lives of demigods. I glanced at Luke and told him my plan; he frowned but nodded knowing it was our only chance,
"Cover me." I said as the monsters started to attack. I closed my eyes in concentration and willed lightning to come down and strike some of the monsters. Then
BOOM!
We ran through the gap of monsters and up the hill but the monsters soon caught up with us, "Luke!" I yelled, "Go! Keep Annabeth safe, get help. I'll hold them off until then."
"But-"
"GO!" I yelled. Luke looked like he wanted to argue but the determined expression on my face stopped him. He knew from experience there was no point arguing when I had my mind set to something. He looked at Grover who nodded nervously then whispered something to Annabeth who nodded. He then started counting down,
"Five… four… three… two…" He looked at me as I got ready to attack. "One" He whispered and I charged at the monsters. I fought like I'd never fought before, slash, dodge, jab, block, roll and repeat. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Luke sprinting into camp carrying Annabeth bridal style and Grover following. I was relieved they were ok but I knew they wouldn't get back with help in time, there were too many monsters and I was already exhausted from the lack of sleep. Then one snuck up behind me. I spun on my heel and stabbed it but not before it got my leg. I collapsed and I immediately knew I'd broken it. Oh gods I thought there was no way I would win now. Just then thunder rolled across the sky, Thank You! I thought, my father, Zeus had come to save me! The monsters looked horrified but when the lightning flashed it was aimed at me. Gee, thanks Father I though bitterly. It struck me but it didn't hurt, it was more like I was being forced into a deep sleep. Awake but asleep at the same time. I could see everything around me but it felt like I was asleep. At that moment the camp came over the hill fighting off the rest of the monsters. When they were done they gazed at me and gasped so I looked at myself.
Zeus had turned me into a pine tree.
A pine tree to protect my friends at camp forever.
A/N: Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed that. This was going to be a one-shot but I could make it into a story of how Thalia, the tree sees the next five years. What do you guys want?
Anyway, who's exited for the Sea of Monsters tomorrow? *everyone raises their hand* So am I! I can hardly wait. I just hope it's not at bad as the Lightning Thief was... oh well.
Review! And tell me whether I should make this into a story or not!
Review challenge: How many letters are in the alphabet?
Thanks for reading and review!
