Chapter One: Stacey McGill, The College Graduate
Hey, my name is Stacey McGill, and today, I am graduating New York University. I am married to my best friend, Kristy's brother, Sam Thomas. Kristy Thomas is his sister, and one of my best friends, since I was 13, and we began the Babysitters Club, which we (The members of the Babysitters Club.) call the BSC. More about the BSC later.
Anyway, I am wanting to get pregnant and have a baby soon, because I have already settled down with Sam, and we both have jobs that we are starting June 4th, which is next Monday. By the way, my official name, now, is Stacey McGill-Thomas, but my family and friends call me by my maiden name. Sam calls me by my first name only. We do not mind that everyone calls me by my maiden name; We are just thankful that we are together and happy.
I said that I would tell you about the BSC, so here goes. Kristy, one of my best friends' as I said and now my sister in-law, was the one who started the club. In other words, she came up with the idea. She was sitting in her kitchen one night, watching her mom make a dozen phone calls for a babysitter for her younger brother,David Michael, because she, nor her 2 older brothers, Sam and Charlie, could watch him. When, suddenly, she had an idea. What if you could call one number and reach several babysitters? So, she got her BFF, Mary Anne Spier and their friend, Claudia Kishi, and me together to start the club. You see, Kristy, Mary Anne, and Claudia grew up together on the same street. Mary Anne beside Kristy, and Claudia across the street. How did I become one of the first members? Well, I had started my very first day of school in 8th grade, at Stoneybrook Middle School (SMS for short.), the day after Kristy got her idea, and that is when I met Claudia. She asked me if I liked to babysit (yea, of course) and if I would like to join the BSC.
Kristy's dad left her family shortly after David Michael was born. Since the summer that we had a camp for the kids, where he broke Kristy's heart by making a promise he did not keep, he made up for it by going to her wedding and walking her down the aisle, since her stepdad had died in a car accident the day before. Her mother had married her stepdad, Watson, a little bit afetr Kristy had started the BSC. He WAS a millionaire and had a huge 3 story mansion, plus a basement, and an attic, in which they had moved into after her mom and Watson had married.He left behind $23,000,000,000,000 and the mansion, plus 3 cars and a limo. Wow, I know. Kristy still was histerical after he died, especially on her wedding day, because he could not come, but she still was happy that she was finally getting married. To who, you may ask?
