A/N Hello everybody! I needed a break from my main story and I wanted to do a short drabble for the fandom here. I have loved this series for a long time, but I haven't written anything for it so far. This is meant to be a short drabble on Kenshin's thoughts at the end of the war. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy it. Have fun!

Blood runs down the edge of my blade and falls in small drops to the earth below. The stench of blood surrounds me and is carried further into the woods by light winds. I feel bones creak under my weight as I carelessly walk over the bodies of my enemies. They tried there best to fight me off as long as they could, but it was futile in the end. It always is. I'm only here for one thing and nobody will stop me from getting to it. This is just one more graveyard that I've left in my wake.

The moon casts a blue shadow over the woods as I walk past. My senses are heightened to an unnatural level. I hear everything, see everything, and feel everything. Nothing's going to get in my way tonight. This marks the end of my journey. The end of all the pain that I've left in my wake. No more fighting. No more killing. No longer shall I leave fatherless children in the world, or women who wait endlessly for their husbands to come home. No longer will I have to see the light and soul fade from my enemies eyes. It ends here.

I have no dreams for the future. They left me when I was a younger man. Nor do I wish to burden anyone with myself or with what I've done. After tonight I shall become a nameless face that drifts from town to town. I shall not interfere in the lives of so many. I will only step in when it is a matter of life and death. However I know that I cannot work within the law. Not after tonight. There has been too much that I have already scarified for this new world. I can do it no longer.

The moonlight gleams off of my blood soaked sword as I stare ahead in the distance. The trees have faded away into the background and they took the smell of blood with them. My red hair blows in the breeze behind me. I have arrived at my destination. No matter what, it all ends tonight.

A/N I know that it was really short, but I hope that you enjoy it anyway. If you like it, please leave a review. As always, Stay Awesome!
