Title: Fade to Pink
Fandom: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Author: Gabrielle Day
Rating: K
Pairing: Sakura/Syaoran
Spoilers: Meh, not really, unless you've don't know anything about the series at all. No major plot points, for sure.
Author's Notes: For some odd reason, my brain decided to write this in present tense. So I apologize for any tense/verb contradictions. It was written in 15 minutes, and is not beta-ed or whatnot. This is so totally one of my favorite pairings, though. grin Enjoy.
Every time she looks at him for too long, she blushes. Sometimes she notices, sometimes she doesn't, and she is never sure why it happens. She cares for him, she knows that much. Sometimes she thinks she cares for him more than she should. She is, after all, a princess, and hardly knows a thing about herself. She could be betrothed to prince or a lord of some world or country, and her heart has betrayed them. But since she doesn't know if she is betrothed, she doesn't worry about the faceless person she may have to care about someday when all her feathers are returned to her.
Someday, after Syaoran has found her feathers for her. It is much easier for her to be certain about Syaoran than it is to be certain about herself. He is strong and determined. He is brave and fearless. Sakura has many fears, many of them about Syaoran. What if he is her prince and she does not remember him? She doesn't think she could forgive herself for committing such a wrong against him. She thinks he cares about her too, more than he thinks he should. He protects her from so much, but she wishes he wouldn't protect her from himself. There are things that she is sure he knows, but every time she tries to remember…
Sakura is determined to fight harder while she can be by his side. She does not know how long this journey will last, but every moment she has with Syaoran is precious to her. Perhaps those moments are becoming more precious to her than the feathers themselves. She smiles softly. Her secret, that she dares not tell anyone, not even Mokona, is that she does not mind when they sometimes loose or don't recover a feather. As long as she has no other memory, she is free to love Syaoran. She is sure that she does.
"Princess? Are you ready?"
He smiles a rare smile at her.
She blushes.
