Halloween Surprise

"But daaaad!" Castle heard his daughter complain.

"It's Halloween! You used to love dressing up with me and going trick-or-treating." Alexis said.

"That was before I started hunting down murderers and criminals for a living." Castle replied.
"Just for a few hours? Please? It doesn't have to be all night!" Alexis turned to him with a sad puppy dog look.
Castle looked at her and sighed. "I guess the notes can wait for a little bit…" he thought to himself.
"Fine. But we split the candy even." He said to Alexis.

"Yes!" Alexis threw her arms up with joy and kissed her dad on the cheek.
It was almost 7 PM now, and Castle still had no idea for a costume. He looked back at some of his old ones.
"No… no… no…" he muttered to himself as he scrolled through his ridiculously large closet.
He then paused and stared at one particular outfit he hadn't worn in decades- A long, brown coat with a vest and a revolver.

"God I missed wearing this…" He thought to himself.

He began to put the outfit on. He buckled his holster on his wrist and picked up his old revolver from an engraved black case in the back of the closet- A Moses Brothers Self-Defense Engine Frontier Model B.

He pushed open the door in full costume, spinning the revolver and then placing it in the holster with style.
"Ummmmm" He heard next to him.
"Hey…" Kate. He had forgotten she was coming back to pick up her computer.
"Oh… Hey." Castle stood in front of the closet awkwardly as he placed his hands together and took a step forward.
"What's with the space cowboy get-up?" Beckett asked with curiosity. She had never seen him wear something like this in her life- and questioned whether the revolver was real or not. She had never seen a gun like it before.
"It's .. Uhhh" Castle paused to think.
"It's *ahem* my Halloween outfit. Yeah. I'm taking Alexis trick-or-treating for an hour or two." He barely managed to say it without stuttering. He hated lying to Kate and Alexis about the truth-where he's really from.

"Riiiiight…" Kate said as she set down her coffee.

She couldn't help but think. The outfit suited him almost perfectly, and it had looked worn and dusty-Like an old coat from World War II she had seen another person wearing for Halloween.

"Where on Earth did you get that outfit?" She asked.
"Not on Earth…" Castle muttered.
"What?" Kate asked, even more confused.
"Nothing… don't worry about it sweetheart." Castle said as he hugged her.
