Relena stared out of the window onto the grounds below. She sighed, then turned back to her paperwork.
'I hate paperwork. It's evil. I can't believe I have to do paperwork on my birthday.' She stood up, and began to pace, thinking about the boring party that would start later tonight. Her mind quickly switched to more pleasant thoughts, and she began to think about the last time she had seen Heero.
*Flashback*
She silently picked up and read the note, then turned towards the window. The man that had passed her on the way to the pane saluted, and she knew it was him. Slowly, so that he could see, she tore the note in half, then whispered, "Next time, give it to me in person."
Heero turned and walked away. She picked up the teddy bear, then smiled into its warm fur.
*End Flashback*
'I wonder if he will ever come back...' she thought.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," Relena called, still facing the window.
She heard someone step inside. Thinking that it was a maid bringing her tea, she said, "Just leave it on the desk."
A dark, familiar voice said, "I thought you wanted it in person?"
Relena froze, then turned slowly. "Heero..."
He stood in front of the door, his dark prussian eyes regarding her carefully. In one hand he held a small, fluffy teddy bear. In the other he held a small piece of paper. Relena slowly walked towards him. He handed her the teddy bear, which she took and cuddled under her chin. Then, for a brief moment, uncertainty shone in his eyes. It disappeared in a flash, and handed her the note. She read it, then tilted her head to look up at him. Unrestrained joy shone in her eyes, as he captured her lips in a kiss.
Forgotten, the note fell to the floor, the words, 'I love you', disappearing under the corner of the desk.
