A/N: After rewatching season 3 *a lot* recently, I wanted to make a pre-canon relationship fic. I was going to make a big one with a bunch of parts but I decided to do just a short one-shot for now; might do that one later. c; This ficlet kinda uses an idea that was from in a dialogue on Grey's if you recognize it. Enjoy! :]

This was Cameron's favorite part.

Don't get her wrong, the sex was amazing. That's why she had started this whole thing in the first place, right? Fantastic, uncomplicated sex. And it was the best she had had in a very long time. It was like she hadn't realized how great it was until the days when she would crave and practically beg Chase for it. But the part that she felt was even more spectacular then the act itself were the moments afterward.

Both Cameron and Chase had been breathing hard when they had originally collapsed into his mattress, mirroring one another. But now, the room was silent apart from the soft hum from air flowing in and out of their lungs in an even pattern. Cameron's strong heartbeats seemed to echo in her ears, however, even though her blood pressure was now far from racing. Ignoring the sound, she slowly turned her body to face Chase and he to her. Their eyes seemed to lock instantly and neither could look away until Chase found her hand and stroked it gently with his thumb that caused Cameron to look down at the mattress shyly.

Chase instinctively wrapped his arms tightly around her and brought her face into his strong, bare chest,. She breathed in the smell that was only him and exhaled deeply. Looking up, she was sure that her heart rate had doubled as he stared down at her. There was something in the sparkle of his eyes that made her want to just melt right there, right then. He leaned over and kissed her forehead gently and she was sure that she actually did melt.

Cameron's hand somehow found its way onto his chest and she lay there on top of him feeling so relaxed that she was sure that she could just stay here. She sighed again as he shifted his hand along her back and subconsciously moved his rose petal-like fingers across the delicate skin, a motion made her even more at ease. Her breath evened out and she was only moments away from falling into a deep sleep when she felt Chase stroking her hair. It was simple gesture, but she felt something inside of her that she hadn't experienced before.

She didn't quite understand what it was and there was a touch of irony in it, too. She had made it incredibly clear that she and Chase were to keep it casual and that it was all for the sex but she secretly enjoyed this part most and he would never know. Even when it was only for one second, she felt safe.
