The gang of four was sitting around a table in the mess hall eating dinner when Travis noticed Malcolm acting funny. He was staring at a PADD, his fork poised halfway between his mouth and his plate, tomato sauce slowly dripping off the spaghetti.

Hoshi nudged Travis, who nudged Trip. They watched Malcolm for a moment, then Hoshi finally broke the silence.

"Malcolm?" She waved a hand in front of his face.

"What? Sorry ." Blinking a few times, Malcolm looked at his fork like he had never seen it before.

"What's so interestin'?" Trip nodded toward the PADD.

"Actually," Malcolm replied, "it's a personal ad in the latest newsletter."

"One of yours?" Travis bit back a snicker.

"Certainly not." Malcolm glared at Travis as Trip swiped the PADD.

"Let's see here ." Skimming the newsletter quickly, Trip finally found the ad. "What on Earth .?"

"Well?" Leaning over, Travis tried to read the small print. "What does it say?"

"Ummm ." Trip looked decidedly uncomfortable.

"Oh for heaven's sake," Hoshi exclaimed, rolling her eyes. She turned to Travis.

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain; if you're not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain; if you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape, I'm the man that you've looked for; write to me, and escape."

Travis' eyes went wide. "You're kidding! A guy wrote that!?" He started laughing.

Trip chuckled too. "Actually it's an old song."

"Don't tell me you wrote it, Commander." Malcolm now looked at Trip like he had never seen him before.

"Heck no!" Trip threw the PADD down so it skittered across the table, coming to rest in front of Hoshi. Travis gazed at her in dawning realization.

"You put the newsletter together, you must know who it is! Come on, Hoshi, you have to tell."

"I have no idea. It came in anonymously." The guys obviously didn't believe her. "I'm telling the truth!!"

"Yeah, right," Travis answered.

"I wonder if there will be a response," Malcolm said thoughtfully as he picked up the PADD again.

-----

"Good Lord, there is a response." Trip passed around a PADD at breakfast a few days later.

"You're kidding." Malcolm took said PADD before Travis could grab it. "You're not kidding."

"What does it say?" Travis was nearly bouncing in his seat.

"Care t' do the honors again, Hosh?" Grinning, Trip looked over at her.

Hoshi glared at him, then spoke to her pancakes.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain; I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne. I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.

The bench in hydroponics, where we'll plan our escape."

All three boys were rolling by this time. Even Hoshi was smiling.

Sighing, Travis looked at Trip and Malcolm, his expression hopeful. "What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in hydroponics tomorrow ."

"Put it outta yer mind, son," Trip drawled.

"Wouldn't be cricket, don't you know," added Malcolm.

"Yeah, but ." Travis sighed again.

"Yeah," they agreed.

-----

Hoshi tried to settle her stomach as she turned the corner toward Hydroponics. She more than half expected one or more of the boys to be loitering about, but the corridor was empty.

Not giving herself the opportunity to change her mind, Hoshi swiftly opened the door to the ship's greenhouse and made her way to the bench under the umbrella tree. She stopped short as a familiar form stood up.

"Oh." Hoshi smiled. "It's you."

Travis smiled back sheepishly, and laughed softly. "I never knew ."
